Defending champions the UConn Huskies face the Illinois Fighting Illini in the March Madness Elite 8 today, as their bid for a sixth NCAA Division I men’s basketball title continues.

March Madness 2024: who’s playing today?

UConn swept past San Diego State in the Sweet 16 on Thursday, thumping the Aztecs 82-52. Dan Hurley’s men are bidding to become the first team to win March Madness in back-to-back seasons since the Florida Gators in 2007.

Illinois, who have never won the NCAA tournament, edged out the Iowa State Cyclones in the Sweet 16, triumphing 72-69.

In today’s other Elite 8 clash, the Alabama Crimson Tide meet the Clemson Tigers, with both teams aiming to reach the Final Four for the first time.

The Crimson Tide downed the North Carolina Tar Heels 89-87 in the Sweet 16 this midweek, while the Tigers were 77-72 winners over the Arizona Wildcats.
