Update:

The controversy did not end after the twelve teams that qualified for the College Football Playoffs were announced. Despite losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, the Crimson Tide still managed to claim the ninth seed.

The Committee selected Alabama (10–3) ahead of Notre Dame (10–2) and BYU (11–2), allowing the Tide to return to the Playoffs after missing out last year.

Alabama secured its place by defeating third–ranked Georgia during the regular season, although it later lost to the Bulldogs in the SEC title game. The team also collected other victories against Top 25 opponents, including Vanderbilt, Missouri and Tennessee.

Notre Dame paid a heavy price for their defeats in the opening two weeks against Miami and Texas A&M, which ultimately proved decisive in keeping them out of the Playoffs.

The NCAA Playoffs are now set. Indiana secured the top seed after edging Ohio State 13–10 in a tight contest, earning a first–round bye. Ohio State, Georgia and Texas Tech will also sit out the opening round.

  1. Indiana Hoosiers 13-0
  2. Ohio State Buckeyes 12-1
