What is Urban Meyer’s net worth and what was his salary with Florida Gators’ football?

Jeffrey May
A product of Cajun country in south Louisiana, Jeff played football through high school, and baseball through college and beyond. After getting a BFA from the Savannah College of Art & Design, he moved to London, where he worked for Sky Sports and coached the 2005 British Champion Croydon Pirates baseball team. He also cooks a mean jambalaya.
Update:

The Florida Gators were a dominant force in the early 2000s and their own brand of chaos and success was presided over by coach Urban Meyer.

In his heyday at Gainsville, Meyer signed a six-year, $24 million contract with the Gators that ultimately lasted only one season before he slinked away under a cloud of controversy. His tenure in Florida yielded two national titles, but at a cost of seeing 31 of his players arrested on weapons, assault, and domestic violence charges, as well as credit card fraud. The Gators locker room was renowned for having a toxic atmosphere during this time, the same locker room that produced players like Tim Tebow, Aaron Hernandez, Cam Newton, the Pouncey brothers, and Carlos Dunlap.

After a short stint on TV, Meyer returned to coaching, winning another national title at Ohio State. Again, controversy courted Meyer and he left under a cloud, eventually making his way to the NFL where he took over at Jacksonville.

Like his protégé Tim Tebow, Meyer too was a bust in the NFL. The flame that blazed so brightly at the college level was somehow ineffective on the professional stage, and after less than a single season, Meyer was fired by the Jaguars.

Something of a Fred Sandford-like figure, Meyer has consistently used health concerns to wriggle out of a tight spot, and despite his self-destructive bent, Meyer has made a ton of money along the road.

Florida initially paid him $14 million before upping that to $24 million. He got $7.6 million per year from Ohio State and signed a $12 million per year deal with Jacksonville, although that last contract was voided when he was let go.

Since then, Meyer has been employed by Fox Sports where he makes around $7 million per year. His total net worth as of 2025 is not publicly available, but estimates stand at somewhere in the region of $35 million.
