How did South Carolina, Iowa reach Championship Game?

Runners-up last year, the Hawkeyes are back in March Madness’ National Championship Game for the fourth time. In Friday’s second semi-final in Cleveland, Clark scored 21 points as Iowa edged the UConn Huskies 71-69.

Clark uncharacteristically missed from the free-throw line with seconds remaining, but Sydney Affolter’s quick rebounding reactions ensured Iowa retained possession and preserved their two-point lead until the buzzer.

Earlier on Friday, South Carolina enjoyed easier progress to this weekend’s trophy decider, defeating the NC State Wolfpack 78-59. Kamilla Cardoso registered 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Gamecocks, who were NCAA champions in 2017 and 2022.
