With Texas falling mightily in Game 1, the Oklahoma Sooners needed only only to win Game 2 in order to repeat as national champions.

The Longhorns were more stubborn in the second game than in their 16-1 loss the previous evening, but the outcome was in no doubt. The Oklahoma ladies were just too good at the end of the day and cruised to a 10-5 victory on Thursday.

This win marks the second year in a row that the Sooners take top prize, and is the fourth in the last six outings.

Sooners star slugger, Jocelyn Alo, made two outs with back-to-back fly balls hit in her direction, for which the crowd gave her an incredible round of applause. With tears flowing down her face, the emotion was palpable in the stadium.

With the normally-hot bats making headlines for the Sooners, their defense is what slammed the door on Texas. Jayda Colman went up and robbed the Longhorns of a home run, not once, but twice in the first inning.

The game stayed close until the Sooners’ bats came alive in the fifth and sixth innings, capping a blistering season for what is surely one of the best NCAA softball teams ever fielded.
