Aaron Rodgers making things “a little weird” for the Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are putting all their quarterback eggs in the Aaron Rodgers basket, but his hesitancy to give an answer is throwing off the vibes.

Update:

The Pittsburgh Steelers are pining for Aaron Rodgers, who’s taking his merry time letting them know if he’ll choose them back or not. And that lack of decision is apparently throwing off the vibe in the Steelers locker room.

Aaron Rodgers making Steelers QB room feel “a little weird”

The Steelers are holding out hope that Rodgers will decide to sign with them. At the moment, he’s waiting it out, apparently thinking that the Minnesota Vikings might change their mind and work out something with him instead. But the Steelers are currently without a reliable starter at quarterback, with just Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson under contract.

Although Rodgers is most likely going to sign with the Steelers at some point, owner Art Rooney II said they will eventually pursue other options if Rodgers doesn’t do so soon. They stuck to that, meeting with top NFL Draft prospect Shedeur Sanders this week. The Steelers need to make a decision, and Rodgers’ lack of urgency to do so is throwing off the vibe in the Steelers’ locker room.

A Steelers source told NFL Insider Josina Anderson that the current state of the quarterback room without Rodgers has left things a bit awkward.

She wrote on X: “Meanwhile from a league source on the #Steelers: ‘The vibe? I would say it feels a little weird here. The running joke around here right now is ‘who’s going to be our quarterback?’ Now, I wouldn’t say there’s any panic though; but the current QB depth says what it says.’”

The Steelers have also reportedly shown interest in veterans Joe Flacco and Carson Wentz, indicating that they might be ready to move on from Rodgers if he doesn’t make a move soon. As for Rodgers, he seems content to wait it out.
