Update:

Last summer, Netflix released its first season of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders”. The docu-series gave us an inside look at the challenges faced both before and after making the squad. The show was an immediate hit, launching to the top of Netflix’s Top 10 worldwide chart with 2.3 million viewers within just four days of its premiere. It stayed in the Top 10 U.S. TV shows for five straight weeks.

It was revealed fairly quickly that there would be a second season after the success of the first, but now we finally have a date set for the premiere.

Netflix reveals premiere date for “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” season 2

The second season of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” will premiere on Netflix on June 18. Like last season, the new season will follow the lives of the hopeful dancers trying out for the DCC squad, all the way from auditions through to the NFL season.

Season one gave us an exclusive look at the cheerleaders’ lives off the field as well. Not only are the auditions grueling, but meeting the physical demands, strict schedule, and extremely high expectations placed on the women on the squad is a challenge in resilience and mental strength. Along with the unique sisterhood and the big, beautiful smiles, the series offered us a glimpse at the dark side of the DCC - the low pay for such high demand, stalkers, eating disorders, pressure, and the lack of direction that comes with leaving the squad.

Like the first season, season two is directed by Emmy Award-winning Greg Whiteley (“Cheer,” “Last Chance U”) and produced by One Potato Productions, Boardwalk Pictures, and Campfire Studios. Whitely said he hopes to explore the 2024-25 team’s stories even more deeply in the second season.

“Our last two or three weeks of filming, we were just starting to hit our stride,” Whitely said after the premiere of the first season last June. “I’d love to have more time to see if we can get deeper and deeper with more and more of the team.”

Returning cast members include DCC senior director Kelli Finglass, head choreographer Judy Trammell, and fan favorite cheerleader Reece Weaver. The series is a part of Netflix’s ongoing collaboration with the Dallas Cowboys, which also includes the upcoming show “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys”, which will debut in August.
