America’s Sweethearts season 3 will be led by these returning cheerleaders
Returning veterans and new leaders take center stage as DCC season 3 shifts focus from rookies to fame, pressure, and power.

The trailer for season 3 of Netflix’s hit documentary series “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” was released on Monday. And it suggests another year of intense auditions, as expected.
But the real story isn’t about who makes the team. It’s about who’s already on it.
A veteran-driven season
While the format still includes rookies fighting for a spot, this year is a little different. With roughly 30 veterans returning and just six rookie openings, season 3 is shaping up to be dominated by familiar faces, and the pressure that comes with staying at the top.
Among the confirmed returning veterans are Madie Krueger, Charly Barby, Kelly Villares, Abby Summers, Reece Weaver, and Megan McElaney, all of whom played key roles in previous seasons and many of whom were fan favorites.

That focus becomes even more interesting when you look at who isn’t coming back. Season 2 ended with several high-profile departures, including Armani Latimer, Jada McLean, Amanda Howard, and Chandi Dayle, all central figures in the show’s emotional and cultural storylines. Their exits leave a noticeable gap in leadership and identity within the squad. Season 3 will likely explore who steps into that space.
The leadership group has also evolved. Veterans like Megan, Lea, Tori, Kelee, and Kleine, all in their fifth year, now anchor the team, alongside emerging leaders such as Karley, Marissa, and Anna Kate. That creates a natural shift in focus toward hierarchy, responsibility, and internal expectations, areas the show has increasingly leaned into.
The rookie storyline still matters - especially one
There are only six rookies this season: Brenley Herrera, Faith Ward, Jenna Waller, Madeline Unger, Morgan Perschy, and Parker Kilpatrick.
But one stands out immediately. Jenna Waller’s return after being cut in season 2 gives the show a built-in redemption arc, the kind Netflix has consistently highlighted in past seasons.
With fewer rookies overall, each one is likely to receive more focused attention, but the balance of the show has clearly shifted toward veterans.
The biggest change: fame
What the trailer hints at, and what may define season 3, is something new: Visibility. As America’s Sweethearts has grown into a global hit, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are no longer just performers. They’re public figures.
That brings a different kind of pressure. Scrutiny from fans, expectations on social media, and the challenge of maintaining perfection under a much larger spotlight For returning veterans, that spotlight didn’t exist when they first auditioned. Now, it’s part of the job.
Season 1 was about making the team and what it costs to be a part of it. Season 2 showed us the fight for fair pay. And season 3 looks ready to explore what happens when the platform itself becomes part of the pressure.
With established stars, shifting leadership, and a global audience watching more closely than ever, this may be the most revealing season yet. And this time, the drama won’t just come from who gets cut. It will come from who stays, and what they have to carry. Season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, June 16 with all seven episodes dropping at 3 a.m. ET.
