On an episode of his podcast, the comedian and political commentator weighed in on his predictions for the future of the Chiefs tight end and the pop star.

Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher has never been one to shy away from making controversial statements, even if it means upsetting the Swifties. That’s right - Maher has now weighed in on the relationship between pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The Chiefs are heading to their third straight Super Bowl this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Like last year, Swift will be in attendance to cheer on her beaux from the suite. Swift and Kelce began dating near the start of the NFL season last year and she quickly became a constant presence at the Chiefs' games, becoming a weekly talking point.

Maher predicts a not-so-happily-ever-after for Kelce and Swift

Swift and Kelce make for a cute story indeed - the football star and America’s sweetheart. Fans of Swift have been swooning as they witness the pop star flaunt this relationship after her mostly private, six-year relationship with her previous boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn.

But while some people are predicting a proposal at the end of Super Bowl LIX if the Chiefs win it, Maher doesn’t foresee a fairy tale ending between these two.

During an episode of his podcast Club Random, Maher found himself in a conversation about the two with his guest star, country music artist Luke Bryan. The conversation started as Maher and Bryan were discussing successful pop artists like Swift and Beyoncé. Maher mentioned that he didn’t “quite get the music” they make, but admitted that he does have a “great admiration” for Swift.

“To be that far up in the stratosphere and not be doing anything stupid, be still a good role model, basically,” said Maher. “You know, she’s had a bunch of boyfriends, but who hasn’t?”

“The only thing people can say about her [is] she’s had boyfriends?” Bryan said. “Then she goes and lands Travis Kelce and then it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s crushing it.”

Swift has been criticized for her dating history and subsequent songs she writes about it, much more than any male artist, and her fans, like Bryan, have come to her defense. Still, while many people seem to think Swift has finally found “the one” with Kelce, Maher does not agree.

“First of all, that’s gonna end,” said Maher. “I want to go on record saying - and this is not a knock on either one of them, I think they’re both fine people - but that relationship is going to end like Rihanna‘s husband, ASAP and Rock,” he said “Look, Travis is not the keeper. He’s just not. I mean, he’s not yet ready to be house-trained. He’s not. And he’s going to be coming off another Super Bowl.”

Bryan, for his part, decided to stay out of that discussion, saying he wouldn’t “get into all that”, to which Maher responded, “of course, you shouldn’t”, before suggesting that Kelce is Bryan, “20 years ago, with more liquor in him”.

This isn’t the first time Maher has made such a suggestion. In a previous podcast episode over the summer, he said that Kelce “is gonna dump her”.

“I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but the whole thing with the football player,” Maher said at the time. “I just felt like 35 was a little old to be like, ‘My boyfriend’s a football player, and I wear his jersey to the game with his number on it!’ Right? I mean, come on.”

“With her, it’s like the Gatorade at the Super Bowl,” he went on. “You know you’re gonna get dumped. You just don’t know when.”

For now, the couple is still going strong as Swift spent the majority of the last two NFL seasons cheering him on at games, while he attended several of her shows on the Eras Tour to cheer her on as well. Swift is expected to be at the Super Bowl this Sunday when Kelce and the Chiefs take on the Eagles.
