Bills vs Chiefs live online: score, stats and highlights | NFL AFC Championship

On 3rd and 9, needing a first down to close out the Bills, it was Mahomes hitting Samaje Perine for his only touch of the night, but this 17 yard catch and run was good for a return trip to the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs are heading back to Super Sunday and have a chance to do something that has never been done in the history of the league. The three-peat.
The Chiefs defense came up with another fourth down stop, this one to close out the Bills on this 4th and 5. KC brought the blitz and Allen had no choice but to throw up a prayer which was almost caught by Dalton Kincaid. Those are the moments that don't come around too often, and the Bills had a chance to win the game late on, but couldn't come up with the game winning plays to stop the Chiefs dominance in the AFC.
Harrison Butker who had to have knee surgery in the middle of the season just to be ready for these big games late in the season came on and drilled his only FG of the night, and that would prove to be the game winning kick. There was still plenty of time on the clock, and Allen was going to have a chance to tie or take the lead, but the Bills fell short.
As always, Allen had plenty more tricks left up his sleeve. On 4th down and Goal, he hit Curtis Samuel in the back of the end zone to tie the game up and again this massive playoff match up was set for a photo finish from Arrowhead. Allen ended the night with 237 yards and 2 TDs on 22/34 passing and he would have a chance to win it late on, but came up just short.
You knew, Buffalo knew, everyone watch knew. With the game on the line and a chance to take the lead, Mahomes was going to have it in his hands. I don't think many expected the designed QB run that coach Reid drew up, though and Mahomes took it to the house to give the Chiefs the lead once again.
For as much as we wanted to make this game about the QBs, the defenses came up big in the second half. Especially the KC D, which gave Josh Allen fits on tush pushes and QB sneaks all night. This one led to a turn over on downs, but minutes after Allen almost fumbled trying to jump over the pile on another 4th and short play.
The Bills came out in the second half and decided to ground and pound with Allen and Cook. They took the lead on a 12 play drive that had 11 running plays. Cook finished off the drive with this spectacular diving effort off the option play on 4th down. Cook ended the night with 85 yards on 13 rushes and two TDs.
We know that you can't leave too much time on the clock late in the halves, and Allen got the ball back with 1:55 after the KC TD that put them up 11. Allen was calculating in his drive down the field that was finished off with this miraculous catch from Mack Hollins that cut the lead to 5 before the halftime break.
On 3rd and Goal, just a few plays after the spectacular catch the Chiefs went up 11 as Patrick Mahomes rolled out and scrambled into the end zone for a 1 yard TD run. Mahomes did a lot of running in a game that we expected Allen to dictate the game with his legs.
Worthy had himself a spectacular night in his AFC Championship debut. He was the top pass catcher on the night with 85 yards on six catches, and this one was massive because it set up KC to take two possession lead late in the first half.
KC would retake the lead in a game that looked strikingly familiar to the rest of the games these two teams play. Allen and Mahomes were unrelenting. It was a battle from start to finish, and the last man standing was going to be the one going to the Super Bowl. Mahomes hit rookie Xavier Worthy for this 11 yard TD sprint to the pylon to but the Chiefs back in the lead.
The fumble by Mahomes opened up the door for Josh Allen and the Bills to take the lead with this James Cook run from six yards out. Cook had a big game in the win over the Chiefs earlier this year, and he had another big game in the AFC Championship.
The Bills got on the board with a field goal, but Mahomes and company were driving right down the field for a second straight drive. It looked like they were heading into scoring position, but Mahomes was stripped and that gave the Bills a shot of life after a slow start to the AFC Championship.
The Kansas City Chiefs are heading back to the Super Bowl for the third straight time and fifth time in the last six years after narrowly defeating the Buffalo Bills in another instant classic from Arrowhead. Patrick Mahomes threw for 245 yards and a TD and made all the big plays when it mattered. With the game on the line, the two time Super Bowl MVP came through in the clutch.
The Chiefs defense came up with a three and out to start the game, and then Mahomes led a 9 play, 90 yard drive that was capped off by Kareem Hunt's 12 yard TD.

WE ARE UNDERWAY HERE FROM ARROWHEAD!!!
Eagles flying to the Super Bowl
The Philadelphia Eagles are heading to the Super Bowl!!! They controlled their game against the Commanders from start to finish as Saquon Barkley ran for over 100 yards and ran in 3 TDs to take Philly back to Super Sunday. They are awaiting the winner of this game which they will meet in two Sundays time from New Orleans.
No Rapp in KC
The Bills defense has helped them get to this point, but they will be without a huge key to the D tonight in KC. Taylor Rapp was injured last week, and coach Sean McDermott informed the media that he will be out tonight against the two time defending champs. Our Roddy Cons has more.
Pro KC calls?
You can’t build a dynasty without making some enemies along the way. The Chiefs have made plenty of enemies, but those enemies think KC have made some very important friends. The guys in black and white stripes have been awfully generous to the two time defending champs according to those who are sick and tired of seeing the Chiefs being on the right en of some of those close, controversial calls. Last week against the Texans was no exception. There were a couple of calls that went the Chiefs way, and Houston was not shy to rip the refs on their way to the offseason.
Previous match up
These two teams met in Buffalo back in mid November and it was the Bills who pulled off the win from Orchard Park. There were five lead changes throughout the game as both QBs went toe-to-toe and landed blows to pull ahead. James Cook scored a couple of first half TDs on the ground, but Mahomes tossed a couple of TDs to close the lead to 16-14 at the half. No one scored in the third quarter, but Curtis Samuel changed that with a TD catch from Allen to take a 23-14 lead. KC would claw back with a Noah Gray TD catch to cut the lead to 23-21 midway through the 4th quarter. The play of the game and maybe the season was made by Josh Allen on a 4th and 2 with just over 2:00 to go in the game. Allen rolled right and tucked it for a 26 yard TD to hand the Chiefs their first loss of the season as Allen ended the KC win streak that dated back to last season.
Star watch: Bills
This is the match up everyone wanted to see Josh Allen going up against Patrick Mahomes. Last week, Allen didn’t have to be spectacular as the Bills ran the ball all over the Ravens. Tonight if they are going to beat the Chiefs, they are going to need their MVP candidate to play like an MVP. After passing for just 127 yards on 16/22 attempts, and that’s kind of a summation of what Allen’s season asa been like. For the first time since his first two seasons in the league, he threw for under 4,000 yards but what Allen has done that’s been different than past years is take care of the football. He threw just six INTs all season and fumbled just once all year. That is why he has been in the MVP conversation all year, and he’s coming off a big win over the other favorite to win the MVP. Tonight he will get a chance to top Mahomes and the Chiefs, and get the Bills back to the Super Bowl in over 30 years.
Swifties eat it up
Love her or hate her you knew she was going to be in KC for this huge AFC Championship game. She has been the Chiefs most polarizing fan since her and Travis Kelce started dating early last season. She has added to the luster of this dynasty but she has also added to the strong feelings of dislike to those who are tired of seeing her and the Chiefs continue their dynasty. Our Paul Reidy has more.
Star watch: Chiefs
If the Chiefs are making a run for the best team in the history of the league, then their QB and field general deserves to be in the conversation for the Greatest of All Time. I think right now, we can agree that Tom Brady is the undisputed GOAT, but if the Chiefs win a third straight Super Bowl, Mahomes is going to have a real say in that conversation. It was far from a perfect season for the Chiefs QB, who might have had his worst season statistically. He failed to reach 4,000 yards for the first time in his career. He tied his career low with 26 TDs, and had 11 INTs, but the Chiefs are back in position to win the Super Bowl because of their future Hall of Fame QB. It may be an “off year” but there is no one Andy Reid would rather have under center than the three time Super Bowl MVP, and their two time MVP of the NFL.
Season recap: Bills
The Bills revamped their offense over the offseason and we weren’t sure how the new look team would play after the Super Bowl window seemingly closed in Buffalo. That couldn’t be farther from the truth after 18 weeks of the regular season. They won their first three games to send out warnings shots to the rest of the league. A two game losing streak to the Ravens and the Texans threw the revamp into question, but Allen carried his crew out of a rut and led them to six straight wins. They next time they lost was a shootout in LA to the Rams, but they rebounded by handing the Lions a loss the next week and clinched the AFC East for yet another year. Now Allen and the Bills are looking to get this franchise where they haven’t been since the 90s, but they got a tough game in front of them before they start looking at the Chiefs in the AFC Championship.
Season recap: Chiefs
The Chiefs came into their three peat season knowing that everyone was going to give them their best shot to keep this dynasty from doing something we have never seen. They had a rematch of the AFC Championship with the Ravens in Week 1 and held on by a toe to start a trend for the rest of the season. They would win their first four games by one possession before beating the Saints and Niners comfortably. They would end up winning 10 of their 15 games by one possession, but their one regular loss with the starters on the field came at the hands of these Buffalo Bills. They would rebound and wrap up the AFC’s top seed and rest their starters for almost a month after coach Reid gave them a break after in Week 18. That didn’t seem to phase them last week in the Divisional Round, when they beat the Texans, and now here they are in their seventh straight AFC Championship, where they are 4-2 in games to get to the Super Bowl.
Last game: Bills
Buffalo match up with the Baltimore Ravens in a dream Divisional Round match up from Orchard Park. Both teams came out and got on to the scores board early with opening drive TDs. It was the defense that would step up for the rest of the game and take some of the burden forcing an INT and a fumble on back to back possessions to stretch the lead out to 14-7 with one of Josh Allen’s two rushing TDs. One more rushing TD from Allen stretched the lead to 21-10 before half and then it was time for the Bills defense to step up and close out the Ravens. The forced a fourth quarter fumble by Marc Andrews that kept Baltimore from taking the lead, and then Andrews had a drop on a potential game tying two point conversion that closed out the Ravens season and send the Bills back to the AFC title game for the first time since the 2020 season.
Last game: Chiefs
After wrapping up the one seed in the AFC for yet another year, the Chiefs got a first round BYE, and home field in the playoffs. That meant they would wait until the Divisional Round game to put the pads on after nearly a month of their rest for their starters. It was a low scoring first quarter as the Texans hung with the Chiefs for the first 40 minutes of the game. A couple field goals and a rushing TD from each of the two teams stud running backs put the Texans within a point, but a missed field goal took all the momentum out of the sails of the Texans late in the third quarter. Travis Kelce would make a TD catch to stretch the lead after a fantastic play by Patrick Mahomes put the Chiefs up 20-12. The Chiefs would put the game to bed with a Harrison Butker field goal to put KC up two possessions with under 5:00 to go. Patrick Mahomes had a modest game going for 177 yards, but Travis Kelce had 117 of those yards and a TD.
