Carter-Prescott spitting provokes cheeky viral Kelce comment
An ugly exchange between Dak Prescott and Jalen Carter left one player ejected, one in hot water, and Jason Kelce weighing in.
It takes something spectacularly messy to hijack the first night of the NFL season. A lightning storm tried. But it was the sight of Jalen Carter being tossed before taking a single snap for spitting at Dak Prescott that set social media alight.
Initially, TV cameras only caught Carter’s retaliatory spray in Prescott’s direction. He was penalized 15 yards and ejected, with referee Shawn Smith later calling it “an act not related to football.” Carter’s absence was instantly costly, as the Cowboys used Javonte Williams to pound Philadelphia’s lighter defensive front... and he grabbed two early touchdowns.
But after the storm delay, NBC’s production team rolled back the tape. A new angle showed Prescott had actually spat first toward Carter, though not as directly.
The chatter on social media was clearly tough to keep up with but one legend of the game’s X post caught the eye:
“This is the most wild start to an NFL season of all time. First play of the game, one player is carted off, the other ejected,” retired Eagles center – and brother to Taylor Swift’s fiancé – Jason Kelce wrote. “I mean everyone knows you don’t spit, you swallow obvi.”
The replies were numerous and varied, although many wondered just how many beers had accompanied Jason and Game 1 of the new season. Chiefs next!
