CeeDee Lamb adds fuel to fire by avoiding media after Cowboys loss

The Dallas Cowboys suffered a second straight home loss, this time to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. The final score, 28-25, does not tell the full story. The Cowboys were down 28-6 in the 4th quarter when they finally made a 19-point comeback to give themselves at least a chance at winning. But it was the same mistakes that kept them down the whole game that eventually lost them the game as well.

Tempers and tensions flaring

After their Week 2 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints at home, this loss to the Ravens stung even more. And wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, though not the only frustrated Cowboy, was not hiding his emotions throughout the game.

Lamb was targeted just seven times and finished with just four receptions for 67 yards and no touchdowns. At one point, when the Cowboys were at 14-3 and just near the end zone looking to score their first touchdown of the game, Lamb fumbled the ball in the red zone. It was a costly turnover that Dallas never recovered from.

It was an unusually sloppy game to see from Dallas’ star receiver, who sat out all of training camp waiting for his mega-deal with the Cowboys to get done and missed out on important reps with quarterback Dak Prescott. At one point, Lamb was seen yelling at Prescott on the sidelines in a moment that quickly went viral. In another, he banged his hands on the ground of the field in frustration.

His reactions are understandable, but not exactly condone-able. Prescott himself said he wasn’t worried about Lamb’s body language, but it’s still concerning to see this kind of interaction between these two. To make matters worse, Lamb refused to speak to the media after the game and did not speak in the locker room either.

Prescott, Trevon Diggs, and Micah Parsons all took responsibility for their mistakes when they addressed the media after the game, but Lamb disappeared.

In his defense, he may have needed more time to cool off before saying anything publicly, which is understandable. In the heat of the moment, it’s easy to lose control. That passion would be better utilized on the field, but it seemed to have the opposite effect. The anger and frustration just seemed to aid in Lamb checking out mentally. He’ll have the chance to make up for his sloppy game as well as his reaction to it when the Cowboys face the New York Giants for Thursday Night Football.
