The Bengals are one physical away from obtaining a player who would solidify their tight end position alongside Joe Burrow: O.J. Howard

The Cincinnati Bengals are having a fully loaded offensive team this season, with a pending addition yet to be confirmed: O.J. Howard.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the tight end is visiting the Bengals today, and is set to sign with Cincinnati if he passes a physical:

A former first-round pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Howard dealt with injury issues that rarely kept him on the field for a full season, during his five years in Tampa. He didn’t thrive with the Bills later on either, lasting only five months in Buffalo before they let him go on Tuesday.

But despite underperforming following his unfortunate 2020 Achilles injury, Howard has a major pass-catching skill set, when healthy. The 27-year-old gets to work with quarterback Joe Burrow and a jam-packed offensive team including Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Joe Mixon.

Cincy could use the experience and offensive versatility Howard brings to the team, which would help cement the tight end position for Burrow ahead of the Week 1 season-opening game against the Steelers.
