Dallas Cowboys 2022 preseason round-up: season opener vs Tom Brady, Buccaneers, Ryan Switzer…

NFL season is around the corner, and sports bettors don’t see things going the Cowboys’ way in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ryan Switzer retires after 5 years in the NFL

Wide receiver Ryan Switzer was drafted in 2017 by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round. He had a successful career at UNC as a punt returner before joining the Cowboys. Switzer played just one season in Dallas and had 29 punts for 256 yards and a touchdown. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers the following season, where he had the best season of his career. The rest of his short NFL career, however, was marred by injuries. In fact, that is what led to the young, 27-year-old receiver to his decision to retire from professional football. Switzer did not feel he would be able to play to his full potential, and made the decision to retire. He said he would still like to be involved in the game and would pursue a career as a coach.

Trysten Hill could go to NFC East rivals

With training camp coming up in a little over a week, it’s time for the Dallas Cowboys to start making some cuts to the roster. Rumors are milling that defensive lineman Trysten Hill could be one of the first to go. Hill was drafted in the second round of the 2019 draft and has not panned out the way Dallas had hoped. He hasn’t been able to stay healthy, dealing with injuries the majority of his time in Dallas. If he is the one to go, it could be the Cowboys’ NFC East rivals, the Washington Commanders, who snatch him up. It isn’t like Washington needs more defensive lineman, but it could be a good short-term deal that adds some depth to their roster. All this is speculation, of course, but the moves will start soon, so be on the lookout.

Ex Cowboys prospect charged with burglary and “intent to commit assault”

Houston Texans running back and former Cowboys prospect Darius Anderson has been charged with burglary and intent to commit assault. Reports say that Anderson forced his way into the home of an “on-and-off-again girlfriend” (per the Houston Chronicle) and then chased the woman into the bathroom. In the complaint, it’s reported that the woman fell down a flight of stairs. By the time police arrived, Anderson had left the home. He has been released from custody and his arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20.

Anderson was set to sign with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, but was waived on the final roster cuts. He later joined the Indianapolis Colts for one season before finally joining the Houston Texans.

Odds against Cowboys for season opener against Bucs

The Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will open up their NFL seasons against each other for the second year in a row. This year’s first Sunday Night Football game on September 11 promises to be just as much of a thriller as last year’s.

The Buccanneers pulled off the win over the ‘Boys last season, but just barely. They won by two points on a last-second field goal. This year, though, bets are against the Cowboys again. Early results from BetMGM have over half of bets favoring the Buccaneers when they take on the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
