Update:

Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy appeared to offer his thumbs-up to quarterback Cam Ward’s possible off-season arrival at Huntington Bank Field, as Cleveland prepares for a 2025 campaign in which Deshaun Watson may not return from injury.

The Browns say Watson is set to “miss significant time” next season, after he re-tore his right Achilles in January. NFL insider Ian Rapoport has reported that the 29-year-old signal caller may be forced to sit out the entirety of 2025.

What has Cam Ward said about the Browns?

Speaking at February’s NFL Combine, Ward singled Jeudy out for praise as the quarterback spoke enthusiastically about the possibility that the Browns could use their No. 2 pick in April’s Draft to take him to Ohio.

“They do an unbelievable job on offense getting people open,” Ward told reporters, per ClevelandBrowns.com’s Kelsey Russo. “They’ve got an unbelievable offensive line. Jerry Jeudy is one of the best receivers in the league, so if I’m hoping to go there, I know it’ll work out well.”

Jeudy lauds “tremendous” Ward

Watching Ward’s words during an appearance today on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams!, Jeudy responded positively to Adams’ suggestion that the Browns could be preparing to select the Miami Hurricanes star in the Draft.

He knows something!” Jeudy joked, in reference to Ward’s Combine remarks on the Browns.

Cam’s a great player. I’ve been watching his college career. You know, he did a tremendous job over there at the University of Miami. I’m excited to see where he lands up at.”

Alongside Ward, the Browns have also been tipped to use their first-round Draft pick to select another quarterback, the Colorado Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders.

Asked by Adams how he would feel about working with a rookie QB, Jeudy said: “It doesn’t matter. A great quarterback can be a rookie or not a rookie. If a quarterback knows how to make plays and give their playmakers the ball consistently and wins games, that’s all that matters.

“I think that’s the biggest thing. It’s kind of tough on rookies coming in, those first few years and being able to put up numbers like you’re supposed to. But as long as you’re winning games, giving the playmakers the ball, it doesn’t really matter.”

Jeudy on Garrett deal: “Excited to have him back”

Meanwhile, Jeudy also welcomed the news that Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett has agreed a record-breaking contract extension to remain with the Browns.

I’m glad he’s staying, man,” the 25-year-old told Adams. “He means a lot to the team, a lot to the city. You know what type of player he is, and I’m excited to have him back for the few years we have him.

“He’s a great player. The coaching staff and the GM [general manager, Andrew Berry] did a great job in bringing him back.”

Garrett, who was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, has agreed a four-year deal worth $40 million a season and $123.5 million guaranteed, per ESPN. The extension makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

The Browns, who lost Watson to injury in October, are preparing for a 2025 season that will see them bid to bounce back from a miserable 2024. The Ohioans finished the last regular season with a 3-14 record - the joint-worst in the AFC.
