Justin Fields is weighing his options on a potential landing spot next year but he is far from the NFL free agent craziness as the market opens.

Update:

The last couple days of NFL signings have seen some big names on the move, some star players staying put and massive amounts of money being shelled out around the league. Justin Fields is weighing his options at the moment, but doesn’t seem to be stressing his decision as he enjoys some time away from the craziness of the NFL’s offseason.

Steelers and Jets in market for Fields

There are apparently two teams interested in the former Ohio State QB that spent three years in Chicago before being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. The Steelers are reportedly one of the teams looking to sign the dual threat QB, but rumor has it that the New York Jets are also interested in his services.

ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Scheffer reports that Fields “has been talking with the Steelers, but needs to understand more about the Jets situation and offer that can’t come until after noon” once free agency begins.

Monday marks the official start of free agency, but Fields couldn’t be any farther away from the thick of action. He posted a picture on his Instagram of him enjoying his vacation in a coffee shop from Dubai.

Wilson, Fields or someone else in Steel City?

Last year, Fields was traded from Chicago to the Steelers who brought in two QBs in the span of a few days and let them fight it out in preseason for the starting job. Russell Wilson was brought in along side Fields and won the QB competition, but missed the first six games of the season with a calf strain.

In that time, Fields went 4-2 and looked comfortable as the Steelers QB. He had 1,106 yards, threw five TDs and just one INT while rushing for 289 yards and another five TDs in limited time under center in Pittsburg

Once Wilson was healthy enough to take over the starting role, coach Mike Tomlin put the Super Bowl winner under center and it looked like he and the Steelers were among the elite teams in the AFC, but that spiraled towards the end of the season. They lost their last four games of the regular season and in the first round of the playoffs.

Now the Steelers have to decide if they are going to stay with Wilson, sign Fields or look to dip into the free agent market to settle their doubts at QB. Meanwhile the Jets are looking for someone to replace Aaron Rodgers who was let go by New York after a couple of disastrous seasons from the Meadowlands.
