Update:

The Dallas Cowboys defense has struggled the first few weeks of the season with Micah Parsons now out of the picture and a slew of injuries to the secondary. But they showed some flashes of positivity in their Week 2 matchup against the New York Giants, and one bright spot was newly acquired Kenny Clark.

Clark calls Clowney “another guy we need” as Cowboys defense takes shape

Three-time Pro Bowl tackle Kenny Clark quickly formed a dominant trio with Osa Odighizuwa and Solomon Thomas. Clark’s Week 3 trip to Chicago carries extra meaning. He’ll now line up alongside former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus, who’s Dallas’ defensive coordinator, after years of battling him as a Packer.

“That’s crazy,” said Clark. “I mean, yeah, I’m just happy I’m with Flus now but, you know, it’s just crazy how life works sometimes.”

Along with Clark, the blockbuster trade that sent Parsons out helped lure Jadeveon Clowney to Dallas, with the veteran edge rusher citing Clark’s presence as a major factor in his decision.

“As soon as Kenny Clark signed here, I told my agent, ‘I think that will be a good move for me,’” said Clowney. “‘They’ve got a good secondary, and they’ve got good [defensive] tackles. They just need [me]. Yeah, I need to be there, so see if you can make the call and make something happen to get me in Dallas.’ And I’m here.”

Clowney is expected to debut for the Cowboys in Week 3, and Clark welcomed his arrival too, praising his versatility and impact. Together, they’re set to give Dallas one of the NFL’s most formidable defensive interiors. The Cowboys and Bears kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET from Soldier Field and AS USA will be providing live coverage of the game.
