Diggs ready to go for Dallas?

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a season-ending ACL injury in Week 3 last season. Let’s look at his status heading into training camp.

The Dallas Cowboys are just a month away from the start of training camp. During the offseason, the Cowboys have made very few moves, and that includes on defense. Part of their logic behind that is that they are planning to rely heavily on some defensive players who got injured early on last season - mainly cornerback Trevon Diggs and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.

What’s the injury status of Trevon Diggs?

Trevon Diggs is one of the Cowboys’ best defensive players, so it was a huge blow to the team when he tore his ACL in Week 3 last season, forcing him to sit out the rest of the year. Before his injury, Diggs made the Pro Bowl with three interceptions and a fumble recovery and led the league in interceptions (11) in 2021, earning All-Pro honors that same year.

Now that he’s back for the season, the Cowboys will be holding him to that same standard. They didn’t re-sign Stephen Gilmore, and instead are relying on Diggs to keep up the work he was doing before his injury. He will join All-Pro DaRon Bland to make one of the best cornerback duos in the league. Fellow defender, linebacker Micah Parsons, is excited to have Diggs back on the line and took to social media to express his enthusiasm.

DeMarvion Overshown injury status

DeMarvion Overshown is another defender who will be back from injury this season for the Cowboys. Overshown was a rookie last year and showed great promise in training camp, but was unfortunately injured in the preseason with a torn ACL as well. The Cowboys now look to him to live up to that unfulfilled potential this season and emerge as a reliable linebacker. If he can stay healthy this season, the pressure is on to perform.
