Don’t miss the live Simpsons alternative to MNF: Bart Bengals vs Homer Cowboys

Forget Cooper Rush vs Joe Burrow, the Atom Stadium in Springfield is going to be hosting Monday Night Football Week 14.

Are you ready for a Monday Night Football full of strange little yellow characters. Well, on December 9, ESPN, Disney, and The Simpsons are teaming up to turn the Cincinnati Bengals vs Dallas Cowboys game into a fully animated, real-time spectacle: The Simpsons Funday Football. And yes, Homer and Bart are taking sides.

It’s a matchup where touchdowns meet Duff Beer and where Joe Burrow and Dak Prescott’s replacement Cooper Rush share the field with Marge’s musings and Maggie’s SkyCam skills. Let’s take a look...

What is The Simpsons Funday Football?

This isn’t your typical Monday night lineup. Using Sony’s Beyond Sports and Hawk-Eye Innovations, every snap, pass, and touchdown from the actual Bengals-Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium will be transformed in real-time into an animated broadcast set in the Simpsons universe. Players will appear as motion-enabled, cartoon counterparts, with tracking technology capturing every detail, down to limb movements and mannerisms.

Homer Simpson will don his Cowboys cap alongside Dak Prescott, while Bart backs Joe Burrow and the Bengals. Expect hilarious interruptions as Homer and Bart join the action on the field at key moments, replacing real players for a chaotic father-son rivalry.

Who’s calling the MNF Simpsons action?

Animated ESPN commentators Mina Kimes, Dan Orlovsky, and Drew Carter will break down the game live from Springfield. In true Simpsons style, they’ll appear in cartoon form, donning VR gear for a fully immersive experience. Meanwhile, Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, and Lisa Salters will handle the traditional Monday Night Football telecast on ESPN.

And if you prefer Manning-style banter, Peyton and Eli will host their alternate telecast on ESPN2, occasionally dipping into Springfield for a quick laugh.

How does it capture the Simpsons vibe?

This isn’t just football with a Simpsons overlay – it’s The Simpsons through and through. Legendary voice actors Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, and Dan Castellaneta will reprise their roles, while Springfield regulars like Krusty, Moe, and Milhouse take sides. Marge and Lisa will interview players, Maggie pilots the SkyCam, and even Ralph Wiggum has found a spot on the sidelines.

As for who’s on whose side: expect Lisa, Milhouse, and even Ralph rooting for Bengals Bart, while Carl, Barney, and Moe join Homer’s Cowboys crew.

When and where to watch MNF Simpsons

The action kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on December 9. You can stream The Simpsons Funday Football on Disney+, ESPN+, and NFL+ or catch the traditional game on ESPN, ABC, and ESPN Deportes.

Given the Cowboys' form, we expect Bart will get a chance to say “eat my shorts!” to his frustrated father. Comedy strangulation may follow.
