Drake Maye injury boost after Super Bowl fitness scare
The New England Patriots quarterback has been suffering with a shoulder injury.

With less than a week to go until Super Bowl LX, the New England Patriots have had a major boost on the fitness of quarterback Drake Maye.
Maye injured his right throwing shoulder during the AFC Championship Game victory, sparking major concern. He was listed as limited in practice last Thursday and was sidelined due to illness on Friday.
Heading into Super Bowl week there was a lot of speculation about his injury status but Maye was able to give fans a positive update on Monday. Speaking at an opening night event at the San Jose Convention Center, Maye told reporters: “I feel good. I’ll be just fine.”

“I threw a good bit (today). I threw as much as I would in a practice, and it felt great.”

“I think turned a corner landing on the flight - felt good from the flight - and throwing out there today. I really had no doubt in being 100 percent for the game. It’s the Super Bowl, you get two weeks to prepare for it. Do whatever you have to do to get it right, and I’ve got confidence and feel good,” he continued.
The team’s arrival in California, with comparatively mild 60-degree temperatures, seems to have been a turning point for Maye. With the rest of the week to work his way up to full fitness, any fears of Maye missing out on Super Bowl LX appear to have dissipated.
The Patriots will take on the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday in Super LX. Maye is looking to be only the second quarterback in franchise history to lead the Patriots to a championship, following in the footsteps of Tom Brady.
