Washington Commanders 2026 uniforms unveiled with alternate logo: “They’re associated with some incredible moments”
The Washington Commanders were inspired by the past when creating the team’s new uniforms for 2026. Take a look at their classic style for this year.

The Washington Commanders are leaning into their past while trying to define their future.
On Wednesday, the team officially unveiled their new 2026 uniforms, a redesign that blends elements from their Super Bowl-winning era with a modern identity, including a bold alternate look and a revived logo concept tied to the team’s history.
A return to a familiar look for Washington
At the core of the redesign is a clear nod to the franchise’s most successful years. Washington is bringing back uniforms inspired by the era when the team won three Super Bowls between 1981 and 1991, featuring classic burgundy and white jerseys, gold pants, and the return of block-style numbers.

“They’re associated with some incredible moments,” team president Mark Clouse said, explaining the decision to lean into the past.
The look is intentionally designed to feel familiar to longtime fans, many of whom have long pushed for a return to the franchise’s traditional aesthetic.
The “Hail Raiser” and a new alternate identity
Alongside the classic uniforms, Washington introduced a new alternate set known as the “Hail Raiser.” The all-black uniform features a matte-style helmet with a redesigned “Spear W” logo, a symbol the team says connects past and present.

The spear element itself dates back to the 1960s, when a similar design appeared on the team’s helmets. Now, it returns in a modernized form, integrated into the Commanders’ current branding.
According to the organization, the concept is meant to represent leadership, strength, and what it calls the “tip of the spear”, a defining image for the team’s evolving identity.

Since rebranding in 2022, the Commanders have faced ongoing challenges in connecting with fans who were deeply attached to the franchise’s previous identity. This uniform rollout appears to be a calculated step toward amending that. Team leadership has emphasized that the goal is not to fully return to the past, but to acknowledge it more directly while continuing to build the Commanders brand.
“We’ve been very purposeful in trying to bring back the celebration and integration of our heritage while continuing to move forward,” Clouse said.
That philosophy extends beyond uniforms, with plans for a future stadium design that will echo RFK Stadium, home to many of the franchise’s greatest teams.
After a promising 2024 season that included an NFC Championship Game appearance, Washington took a step back last year. Now, with young quarterback Jayden Daniels expected to lead the next phase, the team is clearly trying to reset both their on-field and off-field identity.
