Giants vs Cowboys odds and predictions for NFL Thanksgiving Day 2022

With the Cowboys looking to continue their good run of form against the Giants in NFL Week 12, we’re taking a look at the odds and predictions for what should be a gritty affair between two teams with identical records.

Cowboys vs Giants: The Lay of the Land

The Giants will visit the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day and with both these NFC East teams sitting on 7-3 records, there is definitely a lot to play for in this one. Where Dallas is concerned, the boys in blue and white haven’t lost a home game since their opener against the Bucs and moreover, have won five consecutive home games against New York. For their part, the Giants come into this one following a surprise loss to the struggling Detroit Lions. To make matters worse they have lost 10 of their last 11 meetings with the Cowboys, including one back in Week 3 when they were beaten 23-16 at home. With kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium, this will be the first time the teams are meeting on Thanksgiving Day since the Cowboys mauled the Giants 30-3 back in 1992.

Cowboys look to continue their wining streak

When Dallas and Minnesota met each other last Sunday, few would have expected the game to be as one-sided as it was. Ultimately, the Cowboys orchestrated the Vikings’ second loss of the season and in brutal fashion with a 40-3 victory on the road. Tony Pollard had a standout game, leading the the Cowboys in rushing and receiving with 80 yards on the ground and 109 through the air. Believe it or not, the 25-year-old running back also hauled in a pair of touchdown passes, meaning it was just the fourth time since 1990 and first since Todd Gurley in 2017, that a player posted at least 75 yards rushing, 100 yards receiving and two TD catches in a single game. To be clear, Pollard has led the league with an average of 154.7 scrimmage yards per game since Week 8 and is tied with Detroit’s Jamaal Williams for the most touchdowns in that span with six.

The Giants have what it takes on the road

Despite their recent 31-18 loss to the Lions, the Giants have actually been playing well on the road. Indeed, New York has won four of its five road games including a massive 27-22 win over the Green Bay Packers in London in Week 5. Where their most recent loss is concerened, it’s worth mentioning that quarterback Daniel Jones was actually outstanding. The 25-year-old threw for 341 yards and a touchdown while rushing for a team-high 50 yards and a score. It was in fact the first 300-yard outing that he’s had in 17 games which is a good sign for a QB who clearly has talent. Then, there’s also Saquon Barkley who is now within touching distance of a third 1,000 yard season with 953 at the moment which is second in the league. The last time he met the Cowboys back in Week 3, Barkley rushed 14 times for 81 yards and a touchdown. It goes without saying, that he will be key to the Giants’ chances.

At this stage in the season, both teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum which is to say that the Cowboys are beginning to find their rhythm while the Giants are quite frankly, batterd, bruised and losing. Where Dallas is concerend, it’s all been about Pollard and Prescott, but mention should definitely be made of WR CeeDee Lamb who hauled in a career-best 150 yards in the win against the Packers. Then of course, there is the return of RB Ezekiel Elliott who was out with knee issues. In case you forgot, there is also Dallas’ brutal defense which just held the Vikings’ offense to less than 200 yards. Think about that.

As we mentioned before, the Giants are banged up at the moment. Rookie WR Wan’Dale Robinson, who posted 100 reception yards last week, is out with a torn ACL, while starting CB Adoree’ Jackson is out with an MCL sprain. Then, there is the case of RB Saquon Barkely, who until recently was red hot. Yet, last week could only manage 22 yards on 15 carries against the league’s worst defense. That being said, he’s just 48 carries from matchinghis most in a season with seven games still remaining, so we met yet see more of his obvious talent. Last but not least, we’ve got to consider the cross country journey for the Giants which will undboutedly have an effect on an already struggling team.
