Update:

The Kansas City Chiefs are making some changes after a disappointing 2025 season. They recently brought back Eric Bieniemy to be their new offensive coordinator, and just brought on Chad O’Shea as their new wide receivers coach.

Both moves have brought praise from current and former players, including former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who had nothing but positive things to say about the O’Shea hire.

Gronk sings praises for O’Shea

O’Shea had been the wide receivers coach for the Cleveland Browns since 2020, but he’s been working in that role for decades, previously working with the New England Patriots. And that is how Gronk knows just how good this coach is.

“I’m pumped about it," Gronk told Kay Adams on Up & Adams. “Chad O’Shea is responsible… I wouldn’t say responsible for Randy Moss’ and Wes Walker’s career in New England, but I would say he’s responsible for Julian Edelman’s career in New England, that’s for sure."

During his ten-year tenure with the Patriots, O’Shea was part of the team that won three Super Bowls in the Tom Brady and Gronk era from 2009 to 2018.

“He’s got so much knowledge of the game of football,” Gronk went on. “I love Chad.”

When Adams asked what Chiefs fans can expect from O’Shea, Gronk gushed about how he is not only a top tier coach in the league, but also one the players will be able to develop deep personal relationships with as well.

“A smart guy, very smart, knows the game of football, no doubt about it,” he said. “He was an offensive coordinator before, but I truly believe that he fits at the wide receiver position better than any other coach out there...He’s a top guy, probably a top-three wide receiver coach in the NFL. There’s no doubt about that.”

“His knowledge and the way that he could connect with players as well. It’s not just about coaching and knowing what you know about football and knowing everything inside and out,“ Gronk said. ”It’s how you connect with these guys and how can you bring the best out of them. And that’s what he does. And that’s why he’s so great."
