Strangely, the Super Bowl trophy is deigned in such a way that makes it float on water. The trophy’s low density had been commented upon for years but was finally put to the test in 2021 when former NFL player Randy Moss threw it into New York’s East River as part of a segment on ESPN. As predicted, the trophy floated on the surface of the river.
That same year, Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady tossed the Vince Lombardi Trophy to teammates aboard a boat on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ celebrations. Some were shocked by his apparent nonchalance but the famous figurine was never in any real danger.
