Update:

When the Dallas Cowboys acquired wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers, mixed in with the excitement of the dynamic duo that would be he and Cee Dee Lamb was concern that Pickens could create problems in the locker room.

This concern doesn’t come from nowhere, as we’ve both heard and seen how he behaved in Pittsburgh. But with the Cowboys, GP as they’re calling him now, is determined to turn over a new leaf, while he insists the narrative has been oversold.

GP: “That’s not even true”

Some of the problems the Steelers experienced with Pickens were tardiness, emotional outbursts, and even once holding up a team flight. He was fined seven times last season, for egregious facemask fouls, obscene gestures, unsportsmanlike conduct, and taunting.

The Cowboys were willing to take on the risk to give Lamb some support on the field and Dak Prescott another weapon to throw to. But Pickens insists that the narrative isn’t entirely true.

“I’m actually like a chill guy,” Pickens said. “There’s a big phase of a tornado that’s not even true. I’m a chill guy and I just love to work.”

Since joining the Cowboys, GP has received nothing but praise from new head coach Brian Schottenheimer as well as his teammates. Schottenheimer mentioned being particularly impressed with his work ethic and determination in team meetings.

The real test will be when the season begins though. While he’s vibing well with the team and being respectful in interviews now, once the season starts and the pressure is on, that’s when he’ll really have something to prove.
