Is the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl window closing? Coach Andy Reid shrugs off doubters
The Kansas City Chiefs went to their fifth Super Bowl in the last six years, but somehow people are beginning to doubt Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the NFL’s latest dynasty, but after their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February last year there are some who are ready to close the window on the Chiefs. Head coach Andy Reid welcomes those doubters.
The end of an era? Reid thinks not
It seems a little crazy to all of the sudden start to close the window on a team that has been to all but one of the last six Super Bowls, but that’s how things go in the NFL. Dynasties are harder and harder to maintain because of the salary cap, and because you have to deal with so many roster changes from year to year.
So far the Chiefs have managed to deal with departures and newcomers while continuing their dominance in the AFC. Last year looked like their toughest season since beginning this era of Super Bowl supremacy. The offense sputtered at times, Patrick Mahomes was spotted on the sidelines visibly frustrated on more than one occasion, and the wins weren’t as convincing as they had been over the last fews years, and that started in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens.

While some are of the belief that his is a sign of decline for the KC, their Commander and Chief Andy Reid doesn’t seem too worried. Instead, he told Kay Adams on the Up and Adams Podcast that he is proud of the way his team handled the adversity. “You understand because there were so many close games, but that’s the National Football League, so I was proud of the guys and how they handled those,” Reid told Kay Adams on “Up & Adams” when asked about the predictions of a lesser-than season. “When it’s all said, it’s winning the game. We have winners, and they figured it out. I was proud of them for that.
Reid: We have to be on our A game every week
It’s not just the Chiefs trying to keep up with their own Super Bowl standard these. Other teams in the AFC are looking to catch up and knock them off their throne. Even in their own division, the Broncos and the Chargers made the playoffs out of the AFC West, and the Raiders finally got a quarterback they hope will make them competitive for the years to come.

“That’s important, and we’ve got a great challenge coming up here,” he said of being winners. “Get to start it off in Brazil, and then we go from there. These teams in the AFC West are strong, great head coaches, great players, so we understand that. And then the rest of the league, there’s so much parity in this league that you’ve got to be on your A game every week. That’s what we’re striving to do, get ourselves in a position where we can do that.”
The Chiefs have had a bullseye on their backs for the last decade, but they are used to that. They start their campaign to reclaim the Lombardi Trophy in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil on September 4th. If we know coach Reid and Patrick Mahomes, we know they will be ready to start the season strong and silence some of those doubters that have popped up recently.
