Update:

The New York Giants didn’t wait for the situation to escalate. Before taking the practice field this week, the entire football operation gathered behind closed doors to address the fallout from quarterback Jaxson Dart’s appearance at a Donald Trump rally, a moment that quickly went viral and sparked both public and internal reaction.

Dart, who introduced Trump at a New York-area event last Friday, found himself at the center of a controversy that extended beyond social media and into the locker room. According to multiple reports, the quarterback has now spoken to teammates during a team meeting, aiming to clear the air after the incident created tension within the group.

Dart’s political move causing internal turmoil

The situation intensified when teammate Abdul Carter reacted publicly, posting on social media that he initially believed the rally video was AI-generated and questioning the decision. The post gained massive traction before being deleted, signaling that the issue had struck a nerve within the team.

Carter later clarified that he and Dart had spoken privately and resolved any issues, emphasizing that the two were “good” after handling the matter “as men.” Still, the need for a full-team discussion shows how quickly the situation had escalated.

During the meeting, several of the Giants’ veteran voices, including Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Jameis Winston, addressed the team. The message was clear: keep internal matters in-house and maintain focus as the season approaches.

The gathering was described as productive, with the organization believing it helped eliminate any lingering friction. While offseason workouts remain voluntary, the presence of key leaders highlighted the importance placed on resolving the issue quickly.

Dart reportedly did not seek team approval before attending the rally, as players are permitted to engage in personal activities off the field. However, the situation blurred lines after he led a “Go Big Blue” chant during the event, something he likely would have been advised against had the team been consulted beforehand.

Ultimately, the Giants appear determined to move past the incident without further disruption. The team’s swift response, addressing the issue internally rather than allowing it to linger publicly, suggests a focus on unity and accountability.

The moment serves as an early lesson for Dart, in the unique spotlight that comes with being an NFL quarterback. And for now, at least, the message from inside the locker room is that the matter is closed, and the focus is back on football.
