Update:

It was a rough outing all around for the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The NFC East squad was thoroughly outmatched by the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9 - and the night went from bad to worse when quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a deeply concerning injury late in the fourth quarter.

Daniels was sacked by linebacker Drake Thomas, and his left arm bent awkwardly as he tried to brace his fall. Instead of absorbing the impact naturally, his elbow appeared to hyperextend in a disturbing motion.

“I’m just gutted by it”

The Commanders’ No. 5 was able to walk off under his own power, but required a brace on his arm to stabilize the injury.

Speaking post-game, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn was unable to give details on the gravity of the injury, confirming only that Daniels had hurt his left elbow. “I’ll update you more once I know more,” Quinn told reporters, adding: “Obviously, I’m just gutted by it, just bummed.”

ESPN has reported that the quarfterback, who is set to undergo an MRI today, suffered a dislocated left elbow. “Daniels is expected to be sidelined indefinitely, but it is uncertain whether his season is over, according to sources,” ESPN’s John Keim revealed.

At the time of his exit, the LSU product had completed 16 of 22 passes for 153 yards and one interception. He had also showcased his dual-threat ability, rushing 10 times for 51 yards and a touchdown. However, the Seahawks’ defense kept him under constant pressure, sacking him four times and delivering several additional hits as he released the ball.

Injuries continue to plague Daniels in 2025

Injuries have been a recurring issue for Daniels throughout the 2025 season. Back in Week 2, he suffered a sprained left knee that sidelined him for two games. Then in Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys, he tweaked his right hamstring.
