Jerry Jones in disbelief after Cowboys’ Playoff debacle

The Dallas Cowboys’ dream of a first Super Bowl since 1996 turned into a nightmare on Sunday at the AT&T Stadium. Quarterback Dak Prescott and the ‘Lone Star’ team were stunningly humbled against the odds, losing 48-32 to the Green Bay Packers.

With the sting of defeat still fresh, pundits were quick to claim the end of the road for Mike McCarthy and even for the team’s quarterback, however, owner Jerry Jones shied away from talking about the future of either at the end of the collapse against Green Bay, although he was clearly enraged by the performance.

“The last three hours I have been wondering what happened. I’m floored. This is beyond my comprehension. This is one of my most surprises since I’ve been involved in sport, period...I know how disappointed everybody is,” the Cowboys owner said at the end of game.

Jones though refused to talk about coach Mike McCarthy’s future, saying that he had “a lot of things to reflect on” but “I haven’t done that at all, and I haven’t reflected at all on anything about coach or any of that. We are amazed that we are sitting here without another game this coming weekend.”

The Cowboys Playoff struggles

With the loss they suffered Sunday afternoon at home, the Cowboys have a 5-13 record in the playoffs since 1996, the fifth worst in the entire league, only the Detroit Lions (1-5), Cleveland Browns (1-3), Miami Dolphins (3-9) and Washington Commanders (2-6) have a worse record in the postseason.

Although Mike McCarthy's record as head of Dallas is 42 wins and 25 losses, the reality is that in the Playoffs he is 1-3. Their only victory was last year when they beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-14, Tom Brady's last game in the league.

Dallas has not won the Super Bowl since the 1995 season, when they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17, and the fans’ patience with McCarthy and Prescott seems to have run out on Sunday against Green Bay.
