Josh Allen and the Bills need help on offense: This 5-time NFL Pro Bowl WR could be the answer
The Buffalo Bills’ latest loss to the Atlanta Falcons showed once again that they’re are in need of some talent at the wide receiver position.
The Buffalo Bills suffered a deflating 24-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, exposing major concerns on both sides of the ball. But one of their biggest problems at the moment is a lack of weapons for quarterback Josh Allen.
Once 4-0 and viewed as a Super Bowl frontrunner, the Bills have now dropped two straight and suddenly look shaky heading into their bye week, with questions rising about their offensive weapons and ability to stop elite playmakers. One NFL analyst suggested an interesting trade that would boost the Bills’ offense, and it could be a real possibility.
Potential weapon incoming for Josh Allen and the Bills?
The Bills are struggling at wide receiver, with Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer underperforming and Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid being overworked in the passing game. Analysts believe general manager Brandon Beane needs to make a move to give quarterback Josh Allen more help.
FanSided’s Christopher Kline predicts a potential trade with the Baltimore Ravens for veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who has shown flashes of his old self but has seen limited production this season.
“DeAndre Hopkins popped early in the campaign when Jackson was still healthy,” Kline wrote. “He looked well on his way to a vintage season. Unfortunately, his production (and his usage) has stalled. Hopkins only has nine catches through six weeks, averaging a whopping 19.8 yards per reception. He can still make dazzling catches over the top, he can still beat receivers one-on-one on the outside, but Hopkins’ days as a WR1 are over. Still, the Buffalo Bills can always use more experienced weapons at wide receiver. If you can’t stay afloat with Jackson in Baltimore, following the chain of opportunity to Buffalo is an ideal outcome.”
Hopkins, 33, has 178 yards through six games and remains a capable deep threat, even if his WR1 days are behind him. His affordable one-year, $5 million contract makes him a realistic target for Buffalo, while the 1-5 Ravens could benefit from trading him for a late-round draft pick before potentially losing him in free agency.
