Update:

It’s become tradition for Super Bowl winners, especially the MVP of the game to make a customary trip to Disneyland. Kenneth Walker III and Sam Darnold went down to the mythical theme park to celebrate their first career Lombardi Trophy just a day after their triumph over the New England Patriots.

Winning the Super Bowl is the pinnacle for any football player. It’s a dream come true for any player who grow up playing and loving the game. While you work so hard to prepare your body and your mind to get a chance to play on Super Sunday, once you win, the post game obligations might catch you off guard.

There are obligations for the Super Bowl winners, and especially the Super Bowl MVP. Of course, after the game they have interviews to do and they are a part of the trophy presentation on the stage, but that’s not the end of it. Once the teams leave the stadium, they go out and celebrate with their teams but they have a long list of media obligations and a a trip to Disneyland.

There are a lot of things that Kenneth Walker III can not control. Those interviews, and appearances that are essentially obligatory when you are named the MVP are things that come with the territory. While those things are out of his hands, Walker did make sure to do something that he was in control of after lifting the Lombardi Trophy.

Sorry, wrong number

While speaking to ESPN down in Disneyland in Anaheim, California, Darnold and Walker were asked some rapid fire questions. The first of which was who many messages did they receive after winning the Super Bowl? Walker responded, saying “I got a new phone number, so…”

There is a lot of noise and a whole lot of people wanting to talk to you once you win a Super Bowl and get named MVP, and Walker preferred to drown out the noise and enjoy the moment without the added obligation of responding to each and every message.

Sam Darnold wasn´t as prudent with his phone number, and he calculated that he had “around 500” messages after Sunday. It’s a small price to pay for having won the Super Bowl. The tour won’t stop for Darnold or Walker. They will be heading back to Seattle for the Seahawks parade around the streets of the city on Wednesday, and after that they can enjoy a little free time as they rest and relax following a long and successful season.
