There is some uncertainty surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs’ preparations for Week 1, as Chris Jones may continue to hold out into the season. Additionally, Patrick Mahomes and the offense are facing some challenges.

On the other hand, the Detroit Lions are starting Week 1 under relatively favorable conditions, with only Frank Ragnow and Emmanuel Moseley listed on the injury report.

Travis Kelce

The Kansas City Chiefs’ All-Pro tight end, Travis Kelce, sustained an injury during Tuesday’s practice, casting doubt on his availability for Thursday’s season opener against the Detroit Lions. Despite being listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report, Kelce’s status remains uncertain.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Kelce will undergo a knee test on game day to determine whether he can play.

Frank Ragnow

Frank Ragnow, the All-Pro center of the Detroit Lions, was absent from the team’s final practice before the start of the season in Kansas City. He suffers from inoperable toe pain and will need rest to manage the injury. Although he had participated in full practice earlier in the week, he will likely have to take it easy for most of the season. Despite this, he is expected to play in the season opener against Kansas City, giving Detroit a chance to showcase its top offensive line after two years.

The first injury report will be released soon, and Ragnow will likely feature on it regularly as he works to maintain his health and lead the offensive line.

Emmanuel Moseley

Emmanuel Moseley, a defensive back who joined the Detroit Lions as a free agent, will miss the season’s first game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Moseley had a severe injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while playing for the San Francisco 49ers last season. He had to undergo a second clean-up procedure on his knee during the summer.

As a result, he missed the entire training camp. Despite this setback, the Lions had hoped he would return early in the regular season, taking him off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on the roster cut day. Unfortunately, Moseley’s recovery has been slower than expected, and the Lions have ruled him out for the season opener.

This is a significant blow for the Lions as Moseley was one of their top acquisitions in the offseason, and they were counting on him to impact the secondary this year significantly. Nonetheless, the Lions’ medical staff closely monitors his progress, and he could return to the lineup in the coming weeks.
