Mahomes, more valuable than ever

With the regular season approaching the halfway point, the quarterback not only leads an outstanding Chiefs team, but is also a strong candidate for the MVP award.

Patrick Mahomes continues to dominate the NFL with an iron fist. The star and game director of one of the best teams in the world is having a superlative season in every aspect. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback counts his games by victories with personal stats that continue to allow him to break records almost in practically every game he plays.

After the first seven games played, the Chiefs, led by Mahomes, have accumulated six victories and one very close defeat (20-21 to the Detroit Lions in the first week of competition). Since then, the Kansas franchise has bulldozed all its opponents, in part, thanks to the reliability of its great leader in the offensive field - arguably the most outstanding member of a team that scores a lot, and well.

Looking only at Mahomes, his statistics are experiencing a constant progression that makes his dominance in the backfield of the top team in the American Conference notable. In the last game, where the Chiefs easily beat the Chargers (31-17), the quarterback added a total of 424 yards and 4 TD passes, figures that are simply not achievable for most of the players who occupy his position in the league.

MVP Candidate

According to experts and betting houses, Patrick Mahomes is one of the great candidates for the NFL Most Valuable Player award. Only surpassed at this point by the Dolphins quarterback, Tagovailoa. His six consecutive victories and the leadership in his conference suggest that as the season progresses, Mahomes will be in the running for the MVP.

If he achieves it, Mahomes would win his third award as the league’s Most Valuable Player. If we look at the data, his first MVP was in 2018, the year in which Eagles became champions of the Super Bowl, while on the second occasion in which he received this recognition (2022), the quarterback did manage to make the Chiefs champions. If he ends up being the most valuable player of the regular season, the Texan player would have a unique opportunity to revalidate both the MVP and Super Bowl.
