Micah Parsons offers Packers hope with post-surgery message
Parsons posted a positive update after successful knee surgery as the Packers look ahead to his potential return in 2026.
Micah Parsons has offered good news to Green Bay Packers fans after undergoing surgery following a serious injury suffered in the Week 15 game against the Denver Broncos.
The four-time Pro Bowler went down with a non-contact knee injury in the third quarter of Green Bay’s 34-26 loss. He took an awkward step while pass rushing Bo Nix and tumbled to the ground, clutching his knee as he fell.
Parsons’ injury nightmare in Denver
Parsons received prompt medical attention before being helped off the field by two team staff members. He headed straight to the locker room and was not seen again.
The following day, fears that the 26-year-old had suffered a devastating ACL tear were confirmed, with Parsons placed on season-ending injured reserve soon after.
Surgery and a brief but upbeat update
The defensive end underwent surgery on Monday, Dec. 29, a little more than two weeks after sustaining the injury, and offered a positive, if brief, update on social media.
“Today went amazing! LFG”
When will Micah Parons be back playing?
Parsons will clearly be sidelined for a number of months as he undergoes a long rehabilitation. However, the fact the operation went as smoothly as possible will offer the Packers hope he can return at full strength for the start of the 2026 NFL season in September.
Recovery from ACL tears typically takes between eight and 12 months. If Parsons’ rehab falls at the shorter end of that range, he could be ready to go for Week 1 in 2026.
Parsons has been one of the central figures of the NFL news cycle in 2025, first due to his contract standoff with the Dallas Cowboys, then his blockbuster trade to Green Bay, followed by his recent injury setback.
The Packers worrying record without Parsons
The Packers, meanwhile, have clinched a playoff spot but head into the postseason in questionable form, a situation not helped by Parsons’ absence. Matt LaFleur’s team has not won since the former Cowboys star was injured, following the loss to the Broncos with defeats against the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens.
