Mike Hall Jr., Cleveland Browns rookie tackle, arrested for domestic violence

The Browns defensive tackle played his first NFL preseason game on Saturday but has been changed by police following an incident on Monday.

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr., who was selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, was arrested on Tuesday, August 13 and charged with domestic violence after allegedly threatening his fiancée with a gun, among other offences, on Monday night, according to a police report.

The 21-year-old was arraigned at Avon Lake Municipal Court, revealed James M. Drozdowski, a public information officer with Avon Police. Hall Jr.’s bond was set at $10,000 and he is scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday, September 10.

The report, which was obtained by the AP, states that a woman, Hall’s finacée, had called the police alleging he had pushed her and hit her with a baby bottle. He is then accused of throwing her belongings outside and dragging her across a porch with a gun to her head. Hall eventually locked the woman out of the house.

Police said they found evidence of some kind of physical altercation at the house, including a damaged door frame and a hole in a door the woman said Hall had punched. Officers also seized two handguns, a .40-caliber Glock and a 9 mm Smith & Wesson.

What did the Browns say about Hall’s arrest?

Minutes after Hall was arrested, the Cleveland Browns issued a statement saying they were aware of the incident involving the Ohio State University graduate.

“We are aware of the incident involving Mike Hall Jr. last night. Mike and his representatives have been in touch with the appropriate authorities. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this time,” reads the statement.

Hall was selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, in 54th place overall. In Cleveland’s first preseason game on Saturday, the defensive tackle played 29 defensive snaps and three special teams snaps, logging one tackle.
