Cowboys hand Belichick worst loss of his career
After last week's embarrassing loss to the Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys were desperate for a big comeback win and they got that with their 38-3 victory over Bill Belichick's Patriots. Eventually, Belichick had to pull Mac Jones out and start Bailey Zappe in his place. The Pats fell to 1-3 while the Cowboys improved to 3-1.
Dallas defense vs offense
While the Dallas offense did eventually get going, they still look weak in comparison to the defense, which looked much more like the one we saw in Weeks 1 and 2 than the one we saw in Week 3's loss to Arizona. They had three turnovers and two touchdown runs.
The offense took some time to warm up and on the opening drive, they did that thing they keep doing - getting so close to the end zone and then failing to get the touchdown and settling for field goals instead. On the opening drive, after amazing runs by WRs Jalen Tolbert, Michael Gallup, AND TE Jake Ferguson, a play gone wrong caused QB Dak Prescott and RB Tony Pollard to collide on 3rd and goal and therefore miss the touchdown opportunity.
The defense did allow a field goal to the Pats on the next drive, but that was it for the rest of the game. On Dallas' next run, they were able to get the offense going and Prescott hit Lamb with a 20-yard TD. Once the Pats attempted to get back on the board ahead of halftime, however, Dallas' defense had other ideas. Leighton Vander Esch snatched up a fumble from Dante Fowler and brought it into the end zone. They pulled an impressive move going for two after that as punter Brian Anger faked it to Chauncey Golston.
The Dallas offense was forced to use Brandon Aubrey for another field goal after getting held to 4th down in the red zone later, but still gave them a nice, comfortable lead. Defense got another TD when DaRon Bland got a pick 6, giving the Cowboys the 28-3 lead. Hunter Luepke eventually got his first touchdown in the NFL to finish off the scoring for the Cowboys.
Belichick woes
Bill Belichick was handed the worst loss of his 24-season career with this defeat by the Cowboys. With Mac Jones at quarterback for the majority of the game and after committing three turnovers, Belichick eventually surrendered and took him out, replacing him with backup QB Bailey Zappe. Jones finished at 12 of 21 for 150 yards with a 39.9 passer rating.
It also happened to be the first time the Cowboys beat the Pats at home since 1996, breaking a 27-year streak.
What's next?
The Cowboys will face the San Francisco 49ers next Sunday as they look to keep this momentum going.
The Patriots will head home to take on the New Orleans Saints as they look for a comeback and Belichick looks for his 300th regular season win.

HALFTIME
The Cowboys look ready to come back from their embarrassing loss to the Cardinals last week. At halftime, they've come away with two defensive touchdowns, one offensive touchdown, two field goals, and one 2-point conversion against the Patriots.
Meanwhile, New England can't seem to get their offense going with Mac Jones finding himself under pressure most of the time. Their one attempt to make it into the end zone ended up in a field goal attempt instead and turnovers are killing them against the Cowboys.
At halftime, the Cowboys are up 28-3 over the Patriots.

And it's Zeke with his first carry against his former team to start off the Pats on this drive to bring NE to 2nd and 1

Defensive face-off
Expect this game to be a battle of the defenses.
The Dallas Cowboys defense was one of the best in the league starting out the season, but last week's loss to the Cardinals cast a lot of doubt. Their biggest issue is in stopping the run - they allowed 222 rushing yards to Arizona. However, we've seen what Dan Quinn's defense is capable of, and they're unlikely to flop two weeks in a row.
The Patriots defense also can't be underestimated. They are top ten in points allowed and top five in yards given up with two players, edges Matt Judon and Josh Unche, coming off of double-digit sack seasons last year.
The last time the Pats and Cowboys met...
I guess the Patriots are glad they won't have to face Diggs this time around.
Zeke's homecoming
Running back Ezekiel Elliott was with the Dallas Cowboys for seven seasons before finally making his way to New England to play for the Patriots after the Cowboys released him last season.
Towards his end with the Cowboys, Elliott really wasn't performing like he used to. But last week when he played against the Jets, he put up 80 rushing yards. Now he'll get his chance to make the Cowboys sorry they released him as he goes up against their weak run defense, but it won't be an easy feat for him.
Patriots rule out 2 key starters ahead of game vs Cowboys
Unfortunately for the Patriots, G Cole Strange (knee) and CB Jonathan Jones (ankle) will not be making their return against the Cowboys. That makes it the second and third game in a row that the Pats will be without these two key starters.
It will be Christian Gonzalez to continue filling in for Jones as the other two CB Jones' are also out - Marcus Jones and Jack Jones are both on Injured Reserve. Without Strange on the o-line, the Pats will have to make even more changes to an already inconsistent offense.
The Cowboys and Patriots so far this season
The Dallas Cowboys' season started out great with a 40-0 defeat over the Giants and a 30-10 win over the Jets, but in Week 3, they were upset by the Arizona Cardinals with a 28-16 loss. They lost CB Trevon Diggs to a season-ending injury, which was a huge loss to their defense, and their offense is still struggling to get moving.
The New England Patriots are 1-2, but their two losses to the Dolphins and Eagles were both by under 10 points before beating the Jets in Week 3, 15-10. The New England offense has performed much better this season so far under offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, but they have a tough matchup against the Dallas defense, even without Diggs.
The Pats have either won or kept the game within seven points in each of their five meetings since 2007.
Hello everyone and welcome to our live coverage of the New England Patriots at Dallas Cowboys game!
