This week, the U.S.’s Social Security Administration is to complete its April 2026 schedule of benefits payments.

Social Security paid out on Wednesday, April 22: who gets benefits tomorrow?

Across the United States, certain Social Security recipients are to be paid their latest monthly benefits tomorrow, in the final payment run on the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) schedule for April 2026.
Who’s getting Social Security tomorrow, April 22, 2026?
The SSA is to send out Social Security benefits to recipients born on the 21st to 31st of any month. (NB: If you claim benefits based on someone else’s employment history, the agency uses the other person’s birthday.)
Of the 70.9 million people in the U.S. who receive Social Security benefits - whether retirement, disability or survivor pay - the majority get their money on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month.
In April 2026, this birthday-dependent payment cycle is:
- Born on 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, April 8
- Born on 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, April 15
- Born on 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, April 22
How much money do Social Security beneficiaries receive?
- Retired workers: $2,079.49/month
- Disabled workers: $1,634.51/month
- Survivor benefits: $1,624.37/month
(Average Social Security benefit, per SSA figures.)
Who isn’t paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday?
- Some long-term recipients: April 3
Social Security recipients who signed up before May 1997 are issued benefits on the third of the month.
- Dual recipients: April 3
Social Security can be combined with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a separate benefit for certain low-income individuals. People signed up to both schemes get Social Security on the third, with SSI paid out on the first.
How does Social Security make monthly benefits payments?
- Direct deposit
Social Security recipients can update their bank details on the SSA’s my Social Security online portal.
- Direct Express Card
Payments can be loaded onto the Direct Express Card, a special debit card for federal disbursements. You can sign up at 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or at a Social Security office.
