NFL legend prepares for Indy 500
Tom Brady trades cleats for fireproof gear ahead of his high-speed IndyCar cameo with Jimmie Johnson.

Tom Brady’s next big drive won’t end in a touchdown... it’ll top 200 mph.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion is set to ride shotgun with racing icon Jimmie Johnson in a two-seat IndyCar ahead of the 109th Indianapolis 500 on May 25. It’s the first time since 2019 that IndyCar has brought back its two-seater for the race’s parade laps, and it’s part of a splashy new partnership between Penske Entertainment and Fox Sports.
Brady and others on the grid
Brady, now a Fox NFL analyst, won’t be alone on the grid. His colleagues Michael Strahan and Rob Gronkowski will also be at the Brickyard. Strahan will drive the pace car before the green flag, while Gronkowski – unsurprisingly – will be roaming around, mic in hand.
Johnson, a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion who raced once in the Indy 500 in 2022, will be behind the wheel for Brady’s high-speed joyride. That year, he started 12th but crashed late and finished 28th.
Brady has already teased his racing cameo in a Fox commercial, where he jokingly took aim at two-time Indy 500 winner Josef Newgarden’s looks, saying, “He’s not that handsome.”
