NFL standings after week 13: The playoff picture for the AFC and NFC divisions starting to take shape
The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills booked their playoffs places in week 13 but who will join them in the postseason?
Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season saw AFC duo the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) and the Buffalo Bills (10-2) become the first two teams to clinch their places in the playoffs, the latter’s big win over the San Francisco 49ers at Highmark Stadium leaving last year’s Super Bowl runners-up with serious work to do to even reach the postseason this time around.
AFC playoff picture
As for the rest of conference, the Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3) and Houston Texans (8-5) lead the way in AFC North and South respectively, with the Los Angeles Chargers (8-4), Baltimore Ravers (8-5) and Denver Broncos (8-5) currently occupying the wild card spots.
The Indianapolis Colts (6-7), Miami Dolphins (5-7) and Cincinnati Bengals (4-8) are on the bubble but must put together a string of wins between Weeks 14 and 18 to force themselves into the postseason.

NFC playoff picture
In NFC, we’re still waiting for our first qualifiers to be confirmed. The Detroit Lions (11-1) lead the way in NFC North but, despite their superb record, are being pushed all the way by the Minnesota Vikings (10-2) and the Green Bay Packers (9-3).
The Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) are in a commanding position in NFC East, although the Seattle Seahawks (7-5) and the Atlanta Falcons (6-6), the current leaders in NFCs West and South, could quite easily be overtaken before Week 18.
In addition to the Vikings and the Packers, the Washington Commanders (8-5) are in a wild card position at present, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6), the Arizona Cardinals (6-6) and the Los Angeles Rams (6-6) in the hunt.
The 49ers (5-7) are bottom of NFC West as it stands but could still win the division with if they can turn their form around (a big ‘if’ at the moment).

Which teams have already been eliminated?
The New York Giants (2-10), the Las Vegas Raiders (2-10) and the New England Patriots (3-10) are the three teams who are already out of the conversation as far as the playoffs are concerned.
