Rico Dowdle leaves Cowboys, heads to Carolina
The Dallas Cowboys' starting running back for 2024 has left the team to head to the Carolina Panthers in 2025.

The Dallas Cowboys let their number one running back in the 2024 season walk in free agency and now another team has come to sweep him up.
Rico Dowdle signs with Carolina Panthers
Running back Rico Dowdle signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent after the 2020 NFL Draft. He started as the RB3 behind Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard.
Last year, he became the Cowboys' lead running back, rushing 235 times for 1,079 yards and two touchdowns. It was his first 1,000+ yard rushing season.
Now, he’s headed to Carolina as the Panthers are signing him to a one-year deal worth up to $6.25 million.

The Panthers released Miles Sanders on Tuesday to clear up some cap space but still have Chuba Hubbard as their starting running back after they extended him last season. Dowdle is expected to take Sanders' place as the Panthers RB2.
