Update:

As the San Francisco 49ers prepare for their pivotal Week 18 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks, injury concerns are mounting for one of the team’s key figures.

According to an NFL insider report, veteran left tackle Trent Williams is unlikely to feature this weekend, a significant bump in the road for a team still fighting for playoff positioning.

Williams, one of the league’s most respected names, suffered a hamstring injury and looks unlikely to be fit in time for the game. Sources close to the situation told league insiders that his return against Seattle is doubtful, leaving a sizeable gap in an offensive line that has been crucial to the 49ers’ success this season.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport spoke on Friday’s episode of NFL Network’s "Good Morning Football“: “Trent Williams, their Pro Bowl left tackle, one of the best left tackles of not just this year but really the last decade, he is officially listed as questionable, but he hasn’t practiced at all this week dealing with a hamstring injury” Rapoport revealed. “It’s hard to imagine he’s out there with no practice on a short week. Crazier things have happened, but to me, I’m not expecting the big man to be out there.”

San Francisco’s offence has been among the most feared in the NFL, but it has also been tested by injuries throughout 2025. In addition to Williams, running back Christian McCaffrey missed recent practice time due to a stiff back, and tight end George Kittle has been out with an ankle issue.

The Seahawks clash carries extra weight because the NFC West title and favourable playoff seeding are still within reach for both teams.

In the 2025 season, Trent Williams has started every game and logged over 600 offensive snaps for the 49ers. According to Pro Football Focus grading, Williams has allowed 24 pressures, 15 hurries, six quarterback hits, and three sacks on roughly 373 pass-blocking snaps.
