Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has emerged as one of the most dominant players in the NFL.

During the current season and postseason, he managed to surpass the mark set by Terrell Davis with the Denver Broncos with 2,476 yards in 1998, which stood for 26 seasons.

Barkley sets new running record

Barkley, the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, had 2,447 rushing yards during the regular season (2,005) and playoffs (442), just 29 shy of Davis' rushing record, coming into the Super Bowl.

Despite missing the final game of the regular season, as the Eagles had already secured a playoff berth, he had still managed to take first place in the entire NFL in rushing and scrimmage yards.

He earned Offensive Player of the Year honors at the 2024 NFL Honors. Coming into the final game, Barkley was also 268 yards shy of passing Darren Sproles (3,027) for the most all-purpose yards in a single season (including playoffs), set in 2011 with the New Orleans Saints.

By halftime of the championship match, Barkley had amassed 2,478 yards for the season, eclipsing the record set by Davis.
