Seahawks 24 vs 3 Giants summary, stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 4

Update:
The Seattle Seahawks shut down the New York Giants to take an ugly 24-3 win in the Meadowlands as they improve to 3-1 on the season.

Take a look at all the scores from Week 4 on AS English.

- Ugly first half full of penalties, injuries and turnovers

- Smith connects with Metcalf for first TD of night

- Lock comes in for injured Smith and sets up TD with Kant

- Witherspoon takes an INT 97 yards for a TD

as.com

The Seattle Seahawks went into New York and beat the Giants in an ugly game from the Meadowlands. Devon Witherspoon had the game changing play intercepting Daniel Jones on a 97 yard pick six in the third quarter to secure the 24-3 win.

Barkley misses second straight game

The Giants were without Saquon Barkley for a second straight game, but both teams were dealing with injuries on their offensive line and that made for a sloppy, slow game full of penalties and, unfortunately for Daniel Jones and the Giants, full of sacks.

The Seahawks defense had been struggling to stop teams and were sitting at the bottom five of the league in PPG allowed coming into Monday night. With Barkley on the sidelines, New York couldn’t get anything going on the offensive end and Daniel Jones was constantly berated in the backfield by Seattle's front four.

One of the Seahawks first of 10 sacks of the night came from Mario Edwards who forced a fumble that was picked up by Jordyn Brooks. Two plays later Geno Smith hit D.K. Metcalf in the end zone on a 6 yard TD pass for the opening score of the game.

Witherspoon takes pick six 97 yards

Smith and the offense would struggle against the Giants defense which had let up 28 points for more in the first three games of the season. The Seattle QB was just 13/20 for 110 yards, and one TD and was momentarily sidelined with an injury at the end of the second quarter.

Drew Lock would come in and lead a TD drive thanks to a brilliant catch and run from Noah Kant who tip toed down the sideline, getting inside the one yard line and setting up a Kenneth Walker TD to take a 14-3 into the halftime break.

The Giants were still in the game and constructed a drive that reached inside the SEA 10, but a Daniel Jones' interception was taken back 97 yards for a touchdown by Devon Witherspoon who had a fantastic game. He had 7 tackles, two sacks, two tackles for a loss and the game changing INT at the end of the third quarter.

Giants drop to 1-3

The defense held Jones to just 203 yards on 27/34 passing and the Giants were held out of the end zone for the second time in their first four games. They drop to 1-3 and have a brutal upcoming schedule with the Dolphins and Bills coming up in the next two weeks.

The Seahawks improve to 3-1 and maybe even more comforting than that, is the fact that the defense showed up for the first time on Monday night.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM METLIFE!!!

The Giants get the ball to begin the game and will start their first drive from the 25. Here comes Daniel Jones who will have to do it with out Saquon Barkley.

Saquon doubtful

It looks like the Giants will be without their star running back Saquon Barkley who is listed as doubtful for tonight’s game. He sprained his ankle on a late run against the Cardinals setting up field goal position for the game winner with under a minute left. The injury looked much more serious than a sprained ankle but luckily for Barkley, who is in a contract year, and the Giants test results came back negative. He missed last game against San Fran, but 11 days have passed since then and he was hoping to be back for this Monday Night showdown, but the ankle hasn’t healed as he had hoped and the Giants will most likely be without their top weapon on the offensive end.

Tonight's odds

The Seahawks come into to tonight as 2.5 point favorites on the road going up against a New York team that is missing their best player on the offensive end, with the Over/Under set at 46.

I'm taking the over in this game. These two teams can't stop a nose bleed, but it all depends on how the Giants come out without Saquon. I think they figure it out and put up some points tonight against defense that has plenty of shortcomings.

Shootout in the cards?

While the Seahawks come in with one of the top scoring offenses in the league, their Achilles heel has been their defense over the last couple of years. Every game has to be a shoot out, and luckily they have an offense to compensate in a lot of those games but you can’t rely on a team with no defense in the playoffs. The Giants have given up no less than 28 points in their first three games, and tonight they go up against once of the most potent offenses in the league. Seattle and New York both come into tonight in the bottom five in the league in PPG allowed. Tonight’s matchup might be all about which defense can bend the most without breaking.

Geno's just getting started

Geno Smith set the single season record for passing yards in a year that everyone doubted the Seahawks for keeping him on as the starting QB in the post Russell Wilson era. Not only did he break the passing yards record, he took the Seahawks to the playoffs while his predecessor suffered his worst season in the NFL. This year started off slow, passing for just 112 yards in their Week 1 loss to the Rams, but rebounded with 328 yards and two TDs against the Lions. Last week he had 296 yards in the narrow win over the Panthers and he has thrown just 4 TDs and 1 interception coming into this Monday Night matchup.

Jones in the spotlight

Daniel Jones comes back to New York knowing he is under the microscope tonight and for the rest of the season. He got his big money deal, and Saquon didn’t so the franchise obviously entrusts the future of the franchise in his hands as opposed to their star running back. That’s a decision that could backfire, especially if he continues to struggle. So far this season he is has just 562 yards, two TDs and 4 INTs in three games, with two games under 150 yards.

Seahawks last game

If there is one thing the Seahawks do well its put the ball in the end zone and that's what they have done over the last two weeks, as Geno Smith and Pete Carrol’s offense has been bordering unstoppable. Last week the Panthers made the trip across the country and kept it close until the fourth quarter. Carolina led at halftime, but Kenneth Walker III scored a pair of TDs and Geno Smith hit Johnathan Bobo to ice the game with 4:17 to go in the fourth quarter.

Giants last game

The joy of a dramatic comeback in Arizona was short lived as the Giants stayed out west knowing they had one of the best teams in the league coming up. It was a Thursday night game which meant that there would be little time to prepare for a team that as of today has not even had to sweat through four game, and the Giants would have to do so without Saquon Barkley. Needless to say they struggled. The Niners defense created nightmares for Daniel Jones all night long, and the Giants would gain just 150 yards of total offense with one of the backs in the game sidelined with an ankle injury.

We are live from the Meadowlands

Hello everyone and welcome to MetLife Stadium. The last time the Giants were here they took a spanking from the Dallas Cowboys, and the alarm bell immediately started to sound in New York. They got waxed 40-0 in one of the Giants most embarrassing season opener in franchise history. They are back tonight after splitting the last two games, and taking on a team that has one of the most dangerous offenses in the league in the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have shrugged off a Week 1 defeat to the Rams, and come into tonight with a winning record after beating the Lions and the Panthers.
