Senior moment? Former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson posts strange tweet about Bill Belichick snub
Jimmy Johnson is not alone in his disbelief over the Bill Belichick HOF snub, but the way he chose to express his feelings about it were certainly unique.

The backlash to Bill Belichick’s surprising omission as a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer has been loud, and few reactions have been louder, or stranger, than the one from Jimmy Johnson.
Jimmy Johnson’s Belichick snub tweet is as strange as it is blunt
Johnson, himself a Hall of Fame coach and former Dallas Cowboys boss, took to X to voice his disbelief over Belichick being left out of this year’s class. And while the message itself was forceful, it was the way it appeared that was a little off.
“I would bet that if the HOF votes were public very few of the a**holes that did not vote for Bill Belichick would come forward,” Johnson wrote. “Already some are lying about their vote.”

Strong words, including an unfiltered insult aimed directly at Hall of Fame voters, from a man who knows the process as well as anyone. But it wasn’t just his blunt accusation that was odd.
For reasons known only to Johnson (or perhaps to the X app itself), the Hall of Fame rant was posted as a quote tweet of a completely unrelated clip, a highlight featuring Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn from a Patriots-Texans playoff game. He provided no context or explanation. Just a scathing Hall of Fame take stapled onto a random special-teams moment.

The result was an unintentionally hilarious juxtaposition: one of the most accomplished coaches in NFL history unloading on Hall of Fame voters… while boosting a kicker clip that had absolutely nothing to do with Belichick, Canton, or the voting process.
To be clear, Johnson’s sentiment isn’t unique. Plenty of former players, coaches, and media members have expressed disbelief that Belichick, a six-time Super Bowl champion head coach and arguably the most influential figure of the modern NFL, didn’t make it into Canton on the first ballot. What made Johnson’s post stand out was the combination of raw language, accusations of lying, and accidental randomness.
Whether it was a misclick, a tech hiccup, or simply a senior moment, the tweet quickly took on a life of its own, equal parts righteous indignation and accidental comedy. Even in retirement, Jimmy Johnson still knows how to steal a headline.
