Shaq’s Cowboys bet adds fire to Week 1 Eagles clash
NBA legend and Dallas Cowboys superfan Shaquille O’Neal has made a bet on America’s Team in their season opener against the Eagles that raises the stakes.
The Dallas Cowboys will kick off the 2025 NFL regular season with a tough road game against their division rivals and reigning Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles. While all the odds may be stacked against them, at least one fan has placed some major faith in a Cowboys victory in Week 1.
Shaquille O’Neal makes wild bet on Cowboys–Eagles Week 1 matchup
NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal placed a bold wager on his favorite NFL team - the Dallas Cowboys - ahead of their Week 1 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. On his podcast, Shaq promised to wear a dress outside his Las Vegas restaurant if Dallas loses the opener, though he doesn’t expect that to happen.
“We winning this year, I’m guaranteeing it,” Shaq said. “I will wear that dress in front of my restaurant at the Paris Hotel in Vegas.”
The dress in question is the same one that former NBA star Charles Barkley wore in a Weight Watchers commercial in 2012.
Despite a disappointing 2024 season marred by injuries, Shaq believes the Cowboys are ready to bounce back. With Dak Prescott healthy and a revamped offense featuring wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, hopes are high in Dallas. However, the reigning champion Eagles, who swept Dallas in 2024 with dominant wins, remain a formidable opponent.
Shaq’s public bet has only served to amplify attention around the NFL’s opening game. Dallas is under pressure to prove themselves from the opening kickoff, not just to Shaq, but to all the fans and the whole league.
