Slap slap or slap hair? Cowboys cheerleader corrects “Thunderstruck” move you’re getting wrong

The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders were already the most famous of all NFL cheerleaders, but Netflix’s seven-part documentary series, “America’s Sweethearts”, thrust them even further into national attention. The series gave us a behind-the-scenes look into the incredible strength (physical, mental, and emotional) it takes to be a part of the DCC.

One of the most iconic performances the cheerleaders do is their pre-game dance to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”. It’s immediately recognizable. You know when you hear that song that the Cowboys cheerleaders are coming out to bring the energy before the game starts. The performance includes some extremely difficult moves that the DCC members must perform flawlessly, including the high kicks and jump splits.

That got a lot of people curious to try out the dance for themselves, thus starting a viral TikTok challenge in which people film themselves performing part of the “Thunderstruck” dance. However, there was one move that caused some confusion and it wasn’t the jump splits or high kicks.

DCC Jada Mclean sets the record straight on “Thunderstruck” dance move

While I’m sure everyone would appreciate a full DCC “Thunderstruck” tutorial, that’s reserved for the professionals. The best you can find online are videos of the performance and tips on certain moves or tutorials on specific parts of the dance.

In fact, there is one move that many people on TikTok were getting wrong, and DCC’s Jada Mclean took to the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader’s official TikTok herself to make sure it gets done right from now on.

“I hear there’s some rumors going around TikTok, so I’m here to set the record straight,” Mclean says in the video. “In Thunder, the choreography is NOT slap slap, it’s slap HAIR.”

There is even a slow-mo look at this particular move in this scene from “America’s Sweethearts”.

There you have it. It’s one slap, then the hair toss. It seems like some people started doing two, and then just copying each other, which is why there is such a demand for a tutorial straight from the DCC. Unless you’re really dedicated to becoming one of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, however, you will just have to pay closer attention to the videos of the real DCC members.
