Taylor Swift lucky charm runs out for the Chiefs at Super Bowl LIX
The Kansas City Chiefs were convincingly beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles in front of the pop superstar at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The Philadelphia Eagles won their second ever Super Bowl, seven years after their first, thanks to a surprisingly comfortable victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans on Sunday. Nick Sirianni’s team roared out of the traps at Caesars Superdome and were in total control throughout, much to the bewilderment of Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and even Taylor Swift, who who cheering boyfriend Travis Kelce on from the stands.
Swift isn’t at all accustomed to watching the Chiefs lose. Since getting together with Kelce before the start of the 2023 season, Kansas City have been the NFL’s dominant force, particularly in the playoffs.
What is the Chiefs' record with Taylor Swift in the stands?
Going into Super Bowl LIX, the pop superstar had attended 22 Chiefs games, in which the franchise had a hugely positive overall record. Swift had seen Kelce and his teammates win 19 times, suffering only three defeats (now four), all of which came during the regular season, when the stakes were lower. Until now, that is.
It turns out December 2023 was a bad month for Kansas City, with a road loss to the Green Bay Packers followed by home defeats to the Buffalo Bills and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Swift was in attendance at all three, but hadn’t see the Chiefs lose in any other month, until the Super Bowl against the Eagles. That included a perfect 6-0 postseason record across the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Additionally, Sunday’s championship game brought to an end a run of 14 straight games in which the Eras Tour star had overseen a Chiefs win.
As they say, all good things come to an end, although Kansas City and Swift probably didn’t think it would happens so emphatically.
