These are NFL teams shockingly snubbed from smart phone emojis
You can almost have a conversation on emojis alone...unless you want to talk about certain NFL teams. Then you might struggle as these 5 teams are excluded.
After an interesting and entertaining conversation with my colleagues, we realized something. There is an emoji for almost everything on smart phones these days...unless you’re a redhead, or, as it turns out, a fan of certain NFL teams.
Of the 32 teams in the National Football League, most of them have an obvious emoji on smart phone keyboards. Others, you can stretch to make work. But some are just shockingly and hopelessly left out of the emoji world completely. Here are the NFL teams that have emojis, those that we can kind of sort of stretch to make work, and those that just don’t work at all.
NFL Teams with obvious emojis
These are the NFL teams who have obvious emojis - ones that you wouldn’t question or have to think too hard about, if at all. You might even say that they are the elite teams of the league, clearly favored by the emoji board at least.
Some relate to their name, others to their logos, and others to their mascot.
NFL teams with forced emojis
These are the NFL teams that we can kind of make work, but...yeah, it’s a stretch.
Hopeless emoji-less NFL teams
Shockingly, several birds are missing from the emoji keyboard! Now, if we combine two emojis together, we might still be able to make some of these work. The Seahawks for example can be 🌊🦅 or the Vikings could be 🖖🏻🫅/🖖🏻👑. That’s an even bigger stretch than those above though. Somehow, there are no falcons, cardinals or seahawks, no vikings, and no giants on the emoji keyboard. Poor Sam Darnold...no representation at all!
Eight new emojis coming soon
Eight new emojis will be released for smart phones soon, but sadly they don’t really help any of the snubbed teams’ cause. Except for maybe the Minnesota Vikings...
Here they are:
The purple paint splatter can sit in as the temporary icon for the Vikings until the emoji higher-ups bless us with proper emojis for the final five NFL teams.
At least X is on board with the NFL emojis. In 2016, back when it was still Twitter, they teamed up with the NFL and added emojis at the end of each of teams’ hashtags.
