This is Jets owner Woody Johnson’s wife Suzanne Ircha and their teenage kids Brick and Jack
The Johnson family has been in the spotlight recently for how the entire family has taken part in running the New York Jets. Let’s take a look at the Johnsons
A report by The Athletic has brought to light some of the issues the New York Jets are dealing with this season. To say that the 4 - 10 Jets have underperformed this season is an understatement. The team was expected to be at the top of their division and easily make the playoffs, but Aaron Rodgers has not been the quarterback that he once was and the firing of HC Robert Saleh definitely did not fix the problem. Since the firing, the Jets are 2 and 7 and are averaging only 20.2 points per game and are second to last in rushing yards.
All of the blame can’t be put on Aaron Rodgers. Like with any organization, you need to figure out who’s making the decisions and according to The Athletic, it might be a couple of teenage boys. Let’s take a look at the Johnson family from the bottom up.
Who are Brick and Jack Johnson?
Robert Wood Johnson V (Brick) was born on March 24, 2006 to Woody Johnson and his then girlfriend a the time, Suzanne Ircha Johnson. He gets his nickname from D’Brickashaw Ferguson, a fromer Jets player. His brother, Jack Wood Johnson was born on Oct. 13, 2008. Suzanne has been quoted as saying that “Woody felt that guys named Jack were never the last ones picked for teams.”
As reported in this feature story, Suzanne admits to being a “Tiger Mom” and her husband approves.’”As a second-generation immigrant, she embodies those qualities that make our country great,” he said. “It comes out in everything she does, including the way she handles the kids. She’s raising them to work hard and achieve and to think everything will be handed to them.” Brick is said to be very good friends with Barron Trump, who is the same age. Woody’s oldest son is on the Harvard men’s tennis team.
Woody and Suzanne’s sons have influenced their father in making decisions regarding the team according to the report in The Athletic. “When we’re discussing things, you’ll hear Woody cite something that Brick or Jack read online that’s being weighed equally against whatever opinion someone else in the department has,” a Jets executive told the reporters from The Athletic.
According to the report the teenage boys have access to the Jets locker room, where they have been heard criticizing the Jets players after games.
Who is Suzanne Ircha Johnson?
Brick and Jack’s mother is 59 years old and married billionaire Woody Johnson, 77, on June 4, 2009. She is the daughter of a first-generation Ukrainian immigrant father and grew up in Little Ukraine in the East Village in Manhattan. She attended Cornell University where she graduated in 1985 with a degree in business after switching from engineering. She got a job on Wall Street and reportedly made her first million dollars at the age of 26.
Her dream of becoming an actress never happened, but she did appear in two movies: “Pontiac Moon” and “Return to Two Moon Junction.” She ended up meeting Woody in 2004 and gave birth to their first son less than two years later.
Suzanne lives with her family in Trump Tower and in an article in NY Family Magazine, claims to be a traditional mother and wife. “I am a total 1960s housewife. As glamorous as it all seems on the outside, I am a wife and mother, and that’s first and foremost... I put on the black leggings and the black turtleneck and coat, and take my kids to school. It’s not all fabulous,” she told the magazine.
Who is New York Jets owner Woody Johnson?
Robert Wood Johnson IV was born on April 12, 1947 and is the former US Ambassador to the United Kingdom (2017 - 2021) and heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical company. He is a longtime Republican Party donor and supporter of Donald Trump. He is reported to be worth over $4 billion.
“Woody” bought the New York Jets in 2000 for $635 million. Since buying the team the Jets have only made it to the playoffs on six occasions: 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010. The recent The Athletic report has exposed some faulty decision making by the owner due to using information from “Madden NFL” to decide on trading players, although it’s not clear if Woody actually plays the video game himself.
Woody’s son Brick appears to have deleted his Twitter account and at the moment there is no response from Woody or the family regarding the article in The Athletic.
