This is Katya Kuropas: Meet the Vikings QB JJ McCarthy’s fiancée

Minnesota Vikings’ QB JJ McCarthy is the starting quarterback for Minnesota this season after missing out year 1 due to injury, but he’s not doing it alone: Katya Kuropas is set to marry the quarterback and she’s becoming a star in her own right. The couple will become parents in September after breaking the news about Katya’s pregnancy in May.

McCarthy began dating Kuropas while both were still in high school at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois; the couple are set to marry after he proposed in January 2025.

How long has JJ McCarthy been with his fiancée?

McCarthy and Kuropas met in High School back in 2018, when he was a sophomore. The pair have been together non-stop since then, with McCarthy graduating from high school in 2021 to beginning his college career at Michigan that fall.

Instagram has been a place where McCarthy has posted about his love for Kuropas, saying on their 5th anniversary: “1,825 days with the love of my life but a million moments that will be remembered and cherished for the rest of my life,” he wrote. “I couldn’t be more grateful for who you are and everything you do! You make me the best version of myself and it has been a complete blessing to continually watch you grow into the amazing woman you are.”

Kuropas herself can normally be seen in public wearing the blue and yellow of the Wolverines as she cheers her boyfriend on. She also uses Instagram to reciprocate her feelings towards the team star: “I’m so proud of you my love. Words can’t describe. You did it!” she wrote on the social network.

It seems like she gets on with the parents, too. Against TCU in the college football semifinals, the ESPN camera picked up Kuropas next to McCarthy’s parents, cheering on as a trio as their son attempted to mount an heroic comeback (although they eventually lost).

And the latest chapter in the love story came when McCarthy proposed to Kuropas on a beach in early 2024. The two announced their engagement, along with their new pup Marley, on Instagram in a joint post. “Me, You & Marley Forever & Ever✨🤍,” they wrote in the caption.
